Might be in the market for a set of (2) 17x10 and (2) 17x8.5 wheels in 5x100 this summer. Anyone know any companies that might sell something like this in a price range that wont break the bank?

5x100 17x10 rear 17x8.5 front. Probably a +42 offset for the front, +20 something in the rear. I'm guessing on that one though. I haven't really figured out exactly what the offsets will be.

Price range...something like 350/wheel would be nice, but I have a feeling that wont happen. I've been searching and haven't found anything. Kodiak makes custom wheels to spec, and then there are always the Work 3 piece wheels custom ordered. Eitherway, those wheels are 550+ per wheel.

JLine's are sweet lookin' wheels. But yes, they fall into the same crazy price bracket as the Kodiaks and the Works.

Do you care about weight, cause aren't Jline more of a "V.I.P." style wheel?

Yeah, not really concerned with weight. The car wont weight a whole lot as is.

Yeah, just brainstorming some. The basic idea has been in the brain for about 6 months now, but as far as parts and such are concerned I haven't really thought about it.

Tossing around the idea of a GT28RS or a GT32. Not sure really. The car doesn't weigh much so I don't want to over do it with the power, but at the same time, I want it to be just right from the get go.

The interior is gutted out, but the sound deadening is still in there so that has to go. The engine and tranny are also still there, those have to go away. I have a set of RS brakes sitting on teh floor of the garage still. But I'm not sure those need to be installed just yet. Not a whole lot I need to do yet, as I don't have money to do it just yet. I figure by late May, early June I should be getting cracking on the project. We may be able to use the 1.8L and the RS tranny I have on the floor for mockup.

CCW will make you a good set, but they are again- pricey. <- Shane beat me by a minute.

Why not get some Diamond racing 15 x 10's and the 275/35R15 Hoosier DOT racing slicks? They are relatively cheap.

I don't think I can put a 15 over the brakes. Plus, I want to be able to street drive it. Meaning, I want larger wheels for style. I may end up going with a set of JLine's.

what about 18's? there are more 18's available in a 10" width in 5x100 than 17's. if you had 5x114.3 this would be cake. delicious cake. nom nom nom

I really don't want to convert to 5x114 really. And 18s probably wont fit well under the wagon. I'm kinda set on 17s. And 5x100 is kindof a budget point.

    Yes! the project wagon begins.

If you are running Impreza RS brakes they should fit under 15" wheels. I think Lue was running some 15"s on his RS for a while.

does it have to be a 10" wide? You can get rotas in a 18"x9.5" for about 225/wheel (possibly cheaper) I think they may even be the 20 offset too. http://www.subydude.com/osc/product...d/460?osCsid=286daab3461cfd16bc915a0e79f8b0b5

EDIT: sorry these are the ones in 5x100, 18x9.5 but looks like a 30 offset. http://www.subydude.com/osc/product...d/544?osCsid=286daab3461cfd16bc915a0e79f8b0b5

nah.....just weld up the center diff on the AWD one.

although.....a FWD 5MT impreza tranny would mean factory axles (might have to get them from a first gen leggy though, I don't remember when they changed from a female spline and a stub to a male).

also, if you're going to widebody.....you'll have lots of room for 18s (martin.....you're the RS25-build-link master). and RS brakes definitely fit under 15s. same brakes as tlegs and outbacks, both came with 15s. and WRX hardware would be overkill on a 2WD GF.

Ok, I knew by being vague I'd cause some confusion.

So I may as well stop being honda boy and start laying it out. There is a thread going on t3hw00t, but I'll go ahead and spill it. We are mounting the motor in the backseat and using an FWD tranny to drive the rear wheels. Just try to keep it off of Nasioc as I want to be the first homebrew. (I know there is an MR impreza, but it was professionally built and has the drivers seat and such in the center of the car.)

Current plan is to use the EJ22T from last year (it needs sleeves and pistons) bolt it up to a modded 5 speed from an RS (Mike Wray is on the team for this, so no worries on that, he says he knows how to do it) and then tie in either a GT28RS or a GT32. The rear doors will be louvered and vented to provide air to the intercooler and radiator. And i figured since the doors will be modded in the rear, and we are doing RWD it would be cool to widen the rear body area to make for more aggressive vents in the doors and more aggresive wheels in the rear.

I know it is a giant undertaking, and as of yet we still can't guarantee that it will work. Still gotta take measurements. I have a 1.8L EJ motor and the RS trans to use to take measurements in the back, and Mike Wray is on board for fabrication, so I have faith.

Not sure what to do under the hood yet, might go oldskool beetle style, weld a metal box in there, cover it in carpet, and use it to store a spare tire or something.

Have you looked at HTAutos? they make a side body kit for the GF wagons. you could probably just get the rear 1/4s if you wanted.

    Martin, you are my hero.

    1600 bucks for http://www.htautos.co.uk/11.html?frm_data1=11&frm_data1_type=large

That would work out perfectly and it would likely look 100x better than having a body shop come up with a way to do it. It'll cost a little more than body shop work, but seriously, that looks perfect. And since the door parts are off the car when they arrive (duh) they can be modded before being put on the car for the ventilation. This is quite possibly the best idea ever. Do they have deals on 25RS.com?

    YAY!!

The kit seems pretty sick. I am not sure about how big of wheels you will be able to fit under there but it is a start. As far as I know they are the only ones making the widebody wagon kits.

As for deals on RS25.com I know that they have done some group buys in the past. It wouldn't hurt to send them a PM on RS25 and see if they can cut you a deal (maybe free shipping or something). They are pretty nice guys, and are very helpful over on RS25.

yea, how hard would it be to just convert the rears to 5x114.3? I almost did this on my 240sx - have fronts one pattern and the rears another

I don't have the money right now to purchase these. Otherwise I probably would. And is it possible to convert to SVX front hubs? Would that change anything in terms of brakes?

you should change the title of the thread or start a new one with updates as your project gets under way.
