I am a big plane fanatic and will probably never get to see anything like this in my lifetime, if anybody's in the area today it would be rad if you can snap pics and post em' up here!! http://wcco.com/local/lake.calhoun.airplanes.2.1418745.html
That is an awesome idea. Just show up "No officer this isn't my plane, but I have always wanted one and, you know, I figured since no one was around to claim it..."

LOL, I wanna know what they were thinking though, the pilots are gonna be in deep trouble. ittyfool: That's pretty heavily regulated airspace over there and not readily available to small planes because of the proximity to MSP
It's possible they were allowed into the Class B, its tightly regulated, but not interpenetrate. That said, the landing is probably going to earn them suspensions on their pilots licenses. The FAA is a very heavy handed organization, to make up for how easy it is to get pilots licenses/certifications in the USA.
^ Agreed, yes. I would be a little suprised if they were cleared class B just because of the altitude and frequency of the planes in that area. But who knows, maybe they were.
Proper flight planning is required of all pilots. This is not proper flight planning. Just as accidentally wandering into controlled airspace is a non excusable offense, blame rests solely on the shoulders of the pilots. There doesn't have to be a real violation, they can just say you were operating outside what they consider safe and your license is up for review. The FAA is about as close as the USA gets to a fascist organization. There have been cases where a inspector asks to see someones liscence (think like a cop saying liscence and registration) and the pilot forgets to make the inspector promise to give it back in front of a witness. Then the inspector refuses to return the license for YEARS, even though there has been no violation. No trial, no peer review, no real recourse. The FAA and its inspectors have a lot of power. Landing in a public area like that without either an emergency (which is the free pass for violating air regs) or special supervision/permission was extremely dangerous and stupid. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they get letters from the FAA saying they are being reviewed in a week or so.
if u are 15miles away from airport down town u can land on the lakes example like u can land on lake minnetonka
I was down there right after they landed. I have some pics on flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/entropyphoto/sets/72157623065899259/ WCCO used one of my pics on their website actually...haha
