Just wondering how are they? bad/good experience with them? AIG seems to be the cheapest for me when I compared but a little too cheap that brings me a little concern(about their service). I dont want a insurance company that I registered and few months down the road they go out of bussiness. and yes they are local in the cities here. Anyone had experienced or have AIGDirect as their auto insurance?
AIG is the largest insurer in US, but yes, they almost went bust few days a ago, and are slowly selling assets now to repay the loan from the Fed. If it does not work out too good, Treasury will own them in a year or two. My policy with them is expiring soon and I doubt that I'd renew. I didn't have the chance to really test them, but all the little bits of minor crap tell me that if I were in an accident there would be bigger crap. Minor crap example: they quietly put me on 'autopay' option, which did not work to autobill me for continuation only because few months ago I paid them with the card that has expired since. Another one : when I was shopping with them I did a few different quotes, bought one, and they kept spamming me for months about other ones, asking to 'reconsider' etc; tried to increase the rate when I sold one car, and agreed to keep old one only when I said I'd cancel otherwise. Might not be much to complain about, but my previous insurers didn't do this at all.
I'd say AIG should be the last place you should be looking. Unless of course you're into that sort of risk.. and enjoy Russian roulette.
One of the best judges of an insurance company is thier ability to pay out. If they have enough cash reserves that paying out isn't an issue they're less likely to **** you around. AIG doesn't have much cash right now.
allstate has paid up instantly for both repairs/medical, or forked over bluebook on the cars my family has had totalled. IMO worth the extra money. They arent cheap.
2 years ago when I wrecked my SRT it took some constant badgering to make sure my loan got paid off quickly. Also 2 months ago they shipped my insurance packet and a letter to my old address. The letter was to inform me that they had pulled some kind of consumer report and found a newly licensed driver in my household and for my "convenience" they had automatically added this person to my policy and raised my premium $50/mo.
What insurance company you guys recommand me trying? My 2nd lowest auto insurance quote was "Electric Insurance" which is not local and never heard of it.
what does nate's shop have to do with this thread? Nate never made a new thread every day asking about things when he had his shop. Nice try with that insult. look @ american family, they are VERY affordable and have been verrrry good to me. $160 month for 2003 mazda 6 -full coverage 2008 Kawasaki z1000 - full coverage 1996 impreza - liab and comp 81 cutlass - liab and comp 80 cutlass- comp
True, but there is a lot of "re-insurance" that covers them in the event that they run out of money...for example during hurricanes and other natural disasters many of them don't have the cash reserves to cover their losses, so the reinsurance companies cover them at that point. That they were on the verge of bankruptcy doesn't scare me really, worst case scenario is they sell your policy off to someone else. What scares me is that they were that careless with their money to begin with....I'd be scared to death of taking an Annuity or UL/WL Life insurance policy with them as they have proven that they are not fiscally responsible when they are allowed to run with no regulation.
Not bad rates, I used to have American Family but switched a few years ago to Country insurance....here is the breakdown on my policies: 2002 WRX 2006 Murano 2009 Camry Hybrid All have $100 deductibles and are full coverage. Total monthly cost: $98 Granted, I am married, 33 and own a house but that rate is still significantly better than what I had with Am Fam or State Farm before them. Their service is really good too with quick turn-arounds.
There's a big difference between cash reserves and re. Re-insurance certainy in an ultimate protection, but they'd still rather not use it. Re-insurance comes into play for very large claims or claims where the companies ability to pay is an actual question. Low cash reserves is going to result in stricter policies given out to adjusters. Yes, once you sue them they or thier re may be able to pay out, but quite frankly I'd rather not go to court unless I'm getting paid to do it
WTF has that got to do with anything... what I sell my shop so I cant post on a board for cars of the make that I drive, repair, enjoy... Why dont you just make up your ****ing mind... one thread you are selling your car.. next thread you are wanting to buy stock parts, this is after buying up a turbo and injectors, then you want to buy a smart car which I must say would probably me too SMART for you, then you try to talk smack and look more retarded then ever... the sooner you go back to how you were a few months back the better... I was beginning to enjoy your posts and humor.. now you are just like I thought... and I wont say it.. as I reserve the right for you to prove me wrong... case in point.. you start a thread asking about using an insurance agency that just declared bankruptcy even though you state it in your question you are asking whether you should use them... ****in dumb ass
