my cousin down in cali is looking to start up some sort of promoting business...for like big parties and what not....anyone on here have any knowledge in that area..??...and if there is, what are some of the laws regarding how you can promote something... sorry if this is just confusing but i don't know much about this and i'm just asking what she'd asked me...i don't know anything about this and was just hoping there's someone on here that knows or know someone that would know...thanks..
big parties are a failure in this city. the time for those have come and gone. You have your big downtown clubs, aqua, nv (wtf?), and all that crap, and then you have myth. those are already pretty well monopolized, and there's basically no way any party of any size considered large is going to happen in a non-sanctioned club nowadays. You'd have to be more specific as to what kind of parties. If you're talking big comercial trance acts, they would have to partner up with some of the people who are already doing that stuff in town, most likely clear channel (and that's not going to happen). there are some more local based promotors that your cousin could get buddy buddy with and partner up with, but those crews seem to be fairly tightly guarded about their position on mole hill and usually aren't very friendly to outsiders. just my 2c.
Hahaha, we all know how that is! Van, I think that Josh(MJCT) who managed Soleil downtown knows something about promoting. Or possibly knows someone that does.
it's kinda hard to for me to explain becasue i really don't know what she was getting at.....i'm gonna try and get her to join this forum so she'll know what to say...but thanks for the help...
