And as for stalker...hes not that lucky. I do plan, however, on leaving a letter in the mailbox for his parents if I can get ahold of his address. No ass-kickings, no direct exchange of words, no calls to the cops.

The story is, that the dude (I'd guess, age 16) came up in the right lane at an estimated speed no slower than 100mph on 494west bound, street racing a cavalier. He had to get over into the middle since there was a semi in the far right lane. The problem was, he hadnt planned ahead for cutting anyone off, and there just wasnt enough of a gap between me (going 65 in the middle lane, oblivious to his speed) and the semi in the right of me. I had cruise control on and didnt even see the kid coming until he was almost wedged between the semi and my jeep. There simply wasnt enough room for him to get between me and the semi in the right lane, but he decided beating the cavalier was more important than his safety. I mashed my brakes, with him barely being able to sneak past the front pass. corner of my jeep. I will put this in perspective so you will know just HOW CLOSE he cut it. Without my braking, he would have been crushed between us. Proof: His front right corner of the GTI clipped the mudflap on the rear drivers side of the semi, thats a fact. I watched the slush fall off the back of the semi and onto his car as he zipped through. I'm VERY greatful I was able to slow down just enough for him not to clip me, as I'm sure he would have lost control of his car.

Heres the reason why I think his parents need to know what happened: Its not because I want to be a ****. I think letting them know the kind of danger their kid is putting himself in on the road is a little rediculous. I'm fine if all they do is pay the 60-100 bucks for him to take a performance driving course so that he would know the limits of his vehicle.

Sure, its an annoyance to have kids street racing and it freaked me out a bit today, but I would much rather see that kid clearing my front bumpers in traffic than in a body bag. He is going to DIE on the road if he doesnt get his hormones under control, and realize that beating a cavalier on the way home from school, just isnt worth it. I got my "reality check" when I rolled my subaru at his age, I cant count how many officers told me I should have been dead.

Did you get a license plate? If so, shoot me a PM and I might be able to make a phone call or two...the State Patrol also has a website for cracking down on aggressive drivers. Not to be a bitch, but if it went down like you said there needs to be more than just parents notified. I'd hate to find out later on down the road that he killed someone because he didn't learn his lesson the first time.

you should have just followed him home. being you already followed him into orono. follow him and ask to speak with his parents. that will put fear in his eyes.

Too bad you didn't get the plate #, calling it in while enroute may have been the best remedy and I'll tell you why....

almost five years ago I was sitting in bumper to bumper traffic on crosstown when a lady rear ended me. We were both cruising along at 5mph so there was no real damage, but I was still shaken up. When I pulled over to talk with her, assuming she was pulling over since she just hit me, this lady instead took my place in traffic and proceeded to yell at me from her window as she drove by. She yelled that I put my car in reverse and ran into her!

Realizing she was nuts I took her plate number down and called the police immediately. Cops met her at her house and evidentially slapped her with a written warning.

The next day a sheriff called me to follow-up. During the conversation he thanked me for calling her in. It turns out she had many issues. He didn't say much, but did state she was in deep trouble and I helped take an unsafe driver off the road for a long time.

sorry for the long rant, but people who put other lives in danger should be punished. One mistake can take a life and screw up the lives of familes, etc....

take action when you need to, don't worry about being nice.

frusterating. I easily could have gotten his plates. I did follow him to what I believe was his home on hwy 6 in orono. It was a SLIGHT detour but still allowed me to get home directly.

Esperunit...im not sure what you mean by that.

I'm was hoping for 1badbora to speak up as he probably knows who the local VW guys are.

In that case I will get his stuff over to you brian.

He touched the semi's mudflap. Litterally. It still boggles my mind. Whats going through your brain when you do something like that?
