I think it was from the light snow falling, but did you see the "lines" that were appearing above the lights? It was really cool. I took a few pics of it, you can kinda see what it's like.

That would explain why I couldn't see them. One of my friends called to tell me the northern lights were out looking like "spotlights" so I turned off all the lights here and walked out to the orchard to see if I could see them. I saw nothing. There aren't any bright lights for miles around my corner of Andover but my friend lives in Coon Rapids where there is plenty of man-made light to refract. That and all the trees here make it impossible to see anything closer to the horizon. At least it wasn't as cold out as I thought it was going to be.

yeah, saw those and started driving out of the cities to see if they were northern lights. looked weird and straight...then noticed that they were moving and tracking with street lights!

well, i was disscussing with matt, and we agreed that it was reflection from the snow off light post. we did notice that all the lights had the same lighting going into the sky. so we concluded that it was the snow reflecting off the light post.

Yeah, I emailed a couple pics to wcco, it was my wife's idea. I didn't think they'd actually use them on the news, that was cool. Not all of them in the news story were mine though.
