anyone else wonder how the hell the guys from deadliest catch can be up for 50-60 hours at a time, sleep for 5 and do it all over again? mef. thats all im saying. mef. its gotta be.
My buddy did it. I asked the same thing, but he was drug tested when getting on a boat. He infused himself with caffine and energy pills.
I think crab fishing would be crazy but... anxiety attacks would pwn me out there...... GREAT money though.
I did 72 hours on 4 hours of sleep with 64 miles of hiking in between on two MRE's the entire ordeal. We were all on autopilot at that point, one foot in front of the other. I remember we stopped for about 30 minutes, and I fell asleep standing up, leaning against my buddy, with 90 lb packs and combat gear on. That was quite a long time ago, and I'll never forget just how tired I was during the crucible. Mohave viper is coming up though, and that should be less sleep, but more blowing stuff up, so yeah. making stuff go boom is the motivation there! Props to these guys though. I think tim niccum is up there doing that stuff right now. You gotta be some sorta nut, but in the end when you hit port and can put 50g's in your pocket you might consider doing another one.
watching it now.... these guys are sick... but look at one of the captains.. he has ruined himself with cigarettes and redbull.. I think he had drunk 56 redbull in 3 days...
i drove from Dubouis Wyoming (outside jackson hole) to minneapolis straight threw with only 2 redbulls a no doz and one of those 5 hour energy drinks. I must say im never gonna take one of those 5 hour energys again it worked for more like 12 hours i got home felt really tired but couln't fall asleep for another 3 hours
i think its even more than that. on average they get 80 g's per crew member and on a good trip they are gettin up to 200g's its ridiculous. i wouldnt be able to do it still.
I love this show! I'd be crabby as heck w/ no sleep for 3days! But they only do it during crab season so it's not like they put themselves through it all year long. Only 6 months of. I guess the $cha$ching$ drives them.
yeah i have been up for about 50 hours straight with paintball and driving, but then there was a debilitating crash and i had to sleep for about 10 hours (more than i ever do). Honestly, i could never do the strenuous work they do on that little of sleep.
I know I could handle the wet and cold no problem but I'd have to be able to survive one season in order to know I could do it. Long hours without sleep is easy but you have to consider the conditions they're doing that in make it feel like longer hours with even less sleep. When they're pushing those types of hours I don't look at just the exhaustion I look at how dangerous it would be when your mind is so clouded from lack of sleep. I keep wondering if they ever take a few of those king crabs down for dinner when they're making their way back to port or when they offload and head back to their home port. Or do they just not like to eat crab because they have to see them all the time? King crab = tasty.
YEAH!, the last episode I watched he was coughing up blood and still smoking like a chimmney. went to the hospital and it wasnt from his "fall" hope its not cancer! TIM NICCUM? wow I havnt heared that name in a dogs age.
yeah, between the discovery channel and MNSubaru I don't get much done:laugh: I really like The Deadlist Catch, Ice Road Truckers, and of course Man vs. Wild.....cause Bear Gryllis is a crazy mofo....:squint::crazy:
"Okay, I know I don't have to climb this mountain and could walk around it, but since I'm on camera I'm going scale this 200 vertical cliff with no ropes...and 1/2 up I'll stop and eat and insect or reptile that I find." oh wait, how about some camel poo juice!
