Just found this while searching Craigslist. My Subaru's are all fine, but I was considering picking up one with a blown motor. Seems like for $1800 installed with a warranty it would be a no brainer to have these guys install a motor. Has anyone had any experience with this person/shop? http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/pts/4937913941.html
"IT READY FOR YOUR PROJECT !!! 6 MOUNTS WARRANTY + ADDITIONAL WARRANTY IF WE ARE INSTALL THE ENGINE! 600$ FOR INSTALLATION 50% DISCOUNT FOR TOWING IF WE ARE PIC UP YOUR CAR TODAY - TOMORROW YOU WILL DRIVE IT HOME!!!" I lol'd. What if i are install? If i are deliver it?
I get emails from these phuckers all the time...they need to move money out of their $h!thole country and want my help, or there is a "problem" with my PayPal account. And now you tell me they install Subaru motors too?!?! My lucky day!
This guy bought my old 2.0L shortblock with a spun bearing, 2.0L cams and some other miscellaneous engine parts from me last summer. I believe he's out of Rochester. When I talked to him it sounded like he has several different engine platforms rebuilt and ready for sale and has been doing this for a while. He (Vlad) is Russian or Bosnian or some sort of soviet nationality, which would explain the poor grammar in his ad - has a very thick accent. He was looking for any and all engine parts, so if you have something laying around you can't get rid of, give him a shout... Seemed like a nice enough guy, but I haven't had any experience with him other than selling him a bunch of parts I had laying around.
if its the guy that has a shop off civic center dr. nears Joe's car care, I would steer clear of him. He is a nice enough guy but does poor work. If it is said shop I'm thinking of, he claims to be an expert on imports and "specializes" in euros. When I was running the Advance in Rochester, one of my accounts that is actually one of the top "euro" shops in town did a LOT of corrective work on his repairs.
He gave me a business card, (it looked very professional FWIW) but I don't know what I did with it...
I replied to the CL ad asking for his address, saying I wanted to check out his shop before getting some work done... 1244 7th ave SE, Rochester 55904 Looks like he works out of his garage/home possibly, based on Google Maps...Same guy you're thinking of Twiztid?
Nope that is not the guy I'm thinking of, unless he does this "side Business" away from his shop, as that is not where his shop is located
If grammar was measurement of mechanical ability then everyone should steer clear of the Fobia guy. Just saying...
