If I were you, I'd ask which "reputable body shop" did the repair work.

If he says "World Motorcar", just say "Goodbye, thanks for your time". Otherwise it doesn't look too shabby. Get a close up look at the rebuild damage, though.

stay away. this dude's a liar. Salvage title cars have zero factory warranty, plus its already over the factory bumper to bumper warranty period anyways.

Yeah. $1,500 in repairs on a salvage titled car? Maybe with duct-tape and superglue. Sure.

Talking for a bad experience, dont buy a salvage car. For that same price you can get a nice 04 wrx and mod it the way you want it to be.

Not all salvage title cars are bad. You just have to know exactly how and why they are salvaged.

My car, for instance, has a salvage title because of the massive hail damage. The car was older when it happened and therefore the chances of the damage being too costly to repair with respect to the car's age was pretty good. In my car's case, the 50% rpeair cost with respect book value was easily met (ie the hail caused at least 5k in body damage since every body panel was dented).

In the case of that STi, I'd have to seriously wonder what happened to the car to cause such extensive damage as to have an insurance co total it out.

I would indeed steer clear of that salvage title.

Is this a STi? Or a WRX with a STi Swap?

bingo, we've had numerous salvage cars (my mom's '01 legacy being the latest) and always had good luck. BUT, we ask tons of questions, inspect the car very carefully, and make sure everything is as it should be.

at a glance, it looks to have 5x114.3 lug pattern and brembos.....while it is possible to swap, it'd be easier to get a hold of '04 stuff and not swap the entire suspension.
