I signed up for the carsponsorships.com thing at HIN. They called Friday and asked about whats all on my car and what I have planned. Then they put me on hold to see If I would qualify from what I told them and then when they came back on they said yes you do. I need to pay them $89 for their agency fees and then they will give me a list of companies I can get a discount on. Then they said all I need to do is go to 2 car shows and hand out fliers. If I place at shows I would get re emburst (spelling?) for all the parts I would buy. Anyone have any comments on this? is this a good deal or is this a big scam? They had a huge booth at HIN but that doesnt mean anything. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks Dave
I think its a scam cause i've tried it before too... They try to be your agent for sponsors. Never got me anything...
All they do is provide you with less than spectacular discounts on ricer parts and some stickers to put on your car, and in the end you have to pay them for these discounts. Scam indeed.
This is a scam you never pay for sponsorship. You can do your own mailings and phone calls to aftermarket companies, just make sure you understand these companies are using you for advertising. This means you need to tell them what you have done and where you will be going in the future. Add numbers if you can like how many people attend the events etc... SCAM
lol Thats what I figured. I wasnt about to give someone my money to look for deals for me. They are also probably companies that we wouldnt normally get parts from. Thanks Guys, I just wanted to backup my strange feelings about that whole deal.
Heh, I filled out the stuff on the website a few months ago...as soon as it got to the credit card part I knew it was a scam.
goto the website.. fill out the crappiest car you can think of... and you will get approved for sponcorship. how they got people at the show was "see that car? I didn't pay for a thing on it!" exactly.... your 89.00 fees did... and he in turn will tell you where to get knockoffs of the parts on his car for a reasonably cheap offer. google it, you'll get TONS of "all i got was a discount page"
yup this **** is a total scam. if you're looking to get your car sponsored, first you need to put a little money into it yourself. maybe some performance mods, a little dress-up here and there. something to show you're working on it. put together a current mod list, a proposed mod list, a list of shows, and some other goodies. wrap it all up in a neat happy proposal to have ready to send to sponsors. then basically just pick up the phone and call all of the companies who are on your "want" mod list and/or distributors with several big accounts. generally, getting a discount is NOT tough. getting parts at cost isn't even all that hard. you're going to need to put a little more work into it if you want straight up free parts, but it's nothing you can't do without carsponsor****s.com if you want some help with a proposal, let me know. i wrote one for someone i used to know and it's got pretty much everything you should need in there, just copy the format and fill in the details!
A long time ago on another site I go to, we did an experiment to see if it was a scam or not.I signed up a riced out kia i found on cardomain, just to see if they'd call. the guy called me and was VERY interested in the car. he kept telling me how unique it was. Finally i told the guy he was full of crap and that it wasnt my car. He wasnt very happy.
