Anyone? I just got pulled over for having my bloomington subaru license plate bracket on....................................................................................................................................................seriously. UMPD is dumb. He "let me go", but seriously? Every car I see has those stupid brackets on. He looked at my V1 but didn't say anything.

Yeah, I didn't think they were. But, it is minnesota, so there's probably some stupid loophole ;)

It's illegal to have it stuck to your windshield and that's all IIRC, you can seach the net, the answer shouldn't be hard to find.

like Xcelor8 said there is some crap they can ticket you for - "obstruction of vision" - basically anything attached to the windshield.

Why on earth would he pull you over for a license plate bracket?

Well when I got pulled over because of my exhaust, he mentioned that my radar was working right. I answered sometimes. He said that there's an another 100 bucks to have them on. Well, it's still on my car now!!!!!

Let's see, when I got pulled over

Moving Violation (speed, Stop sign, etc) $142.00
    Muffler/Lights (drive without-Deective) $132.00

I supposeed to pay $274.00 fine. And SWOOP it went down to $25.00 bucks. And for the radar, I don't giva @#$%!!! $100, $200 fine it still on my car. UNTIL there's a legal law to have them on. Hope not

yep...he said that's why he pulled me over. I kinda laughed at him and asked him if he was serious. He said that there was a glare, and it looked like I had a cover on it or something(which is illegal and also bullhonkey). Just dumb.

Radar detectors are fine, but laser jammers/shifters are explicitly illegal in MN and one other state I don't recall. Radar jamming is illegal in all states but because laser is regulated by the FDA instead of the FCC it is only illegal in states that choose to make it that way.

I thought laser jammers/shifters were completely legal since lasers weren't protected by the FCC. Did MN just enact a law making laser jamming/shifting illegal? I wasn't aware of it.

I forget the exact wording, but in Minnesota it's considered to be interfering with an officer's official duties.

IIRC, the Minnesota law is VERY vague in that it makes "anything that interferes with" speed detection illegal. (And no, that's not a NEW law, Minnesota has been that way for over a decade).

So, radar jammers are obviously illegal-- but not JUST radar jammers. A radar-absorbing BRA, for example, could fall under that description (if a cop was really motivated to fine you for something).

Radar DETECTORS are allowed. I don't understand how this "extra $100" statement fits into your story, I am puzzled by your grammar.

DISCLAIMER: As with all "legal advice" found on internet discussion groups, they are subject to mistakes, and the poster is not liable for any errors. In other words, if you tell the judge "But so-and-so on the internet said..." and so-and-so was wrong, TOUGH.
