I'm looking at getting some 19s on my wagon. I also have a set of sports springs in transit from cobb. Anyone have this or a similar setup? If so, any issues? Pictures please!!!
What is the offset on the rims you are planning on running? What size tires? Do you have your fenders rolled? All of this is going to play a part in how well it'll work for you.
I have stock springs... cut a coil out of the front to drop the front to level with the rear.... I want to get new struts and cobb springs or somehting in the future bit stock right now...
g g gg g ghetto ghetto!! haha. You should probably get some replacements in there. Although you probably don't autocross or anything, so it's probably not that big a deal. At least it's not as bad a holding the torch to it... I think?
Your wheel bearings aren't going to like that too much and there's a good chance you will end up rubbing with that setup, not to mention that a 215 width tire on an 8 inch wide rim is a bit of a stretch. Optimum offset on an 8in wide rim is +43 to +47, so that +35 is quite a ways out from that.
it may be ghetto... but it sure aint 4wd height.... we never touched the comfort coils, so the ride NEVER changed.... and it DOESNT bounce like a HONDA on bumpstops.... You wouldnt even know with the ride or the look that it had 'chopped' springs... but yeah it may be ghetto in some thoughts but it was cheaper.. ie $0 for me to drop the 10inch lift out of the front end... try stock wheel well gap and 19s not a good look... ha ha ha who cares.. your ghetto if you chop a coil, your ghetto if you run anything over 17in, apparantly by some opinions on here, and most those guys who comment do the roughest hack job work on their own cars.. ha hah so I dont care what people think... unless you go outrageously ugly on your mods (RAY) jk... then who cares..
you WILL rub with that setup. Just so you know. Your wagon fenders wont accomodate that offset at that width.
And even with rolling, you may still rub the outside edge of the wheel/tire on the fender. Read this thread: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=335263
anyone know where i can find the specs on the wheel bearings subaru uses? i've always wanted to run some bearing stress calculations on them (they use angular roller bearings i assume). 215 on an 8" rim - what is this vdub land? or is this a drift car?
VW look was the first thing that popped into my head too. 8in is about .5in from the max recommended for a 215 width tire IIRC.
i can tell you have a temper and probably a marginal sense of humor i'm just kidding with you man, lighten up plus, what do i know about rims? i had chrome rims on a 240sx
I'm just trying to be cheap. I have a bent rim and am planning on replace the factory set. I want to get something fun but don't want to drop 2k on rims/tires. Anyone have some good sugestions for something I could get for 1k?
rotas and enkeis are pretty nice wheels for the money. go onto edgeracing.com and tirerack.com and pick out some options. if u get stuck between a few come back, post a picture of your car and your wheel choices and we can help u out. otherwise try and make your own choice. its your car
<~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 235/35/19's on the fusion sti and yes we do rub a lil on the rear fenders mainly when we hit a good size bump
7.5 would be the widest width I would go with for a wagon. That may still require some fender rolling. If I had a wagon, I wouldn't go larger than 18x7.5. And I'd keep the offset between 45 and 52
If you look around for used 2004 STI wheels you'll have either a +53 or +55 offset (I can't remember the exact one right now and I'm at our Nissan store so I can't look it up) and you can run a 225/45/17 without rubbing and it'll keep your wheel bearings happy. The Rota SDX's are a wagon specific offset in 17x7.5 +53 and you can run 225's without rubbing. Otherwise, you're going to be very limited as to what you can run tire/rimwise, it's all in the widths vs offsets, and (to make things even harder) a 225 from one manufacturer may be wider than a 225 from another, same with 215s. There are a couple of wagon specific threads on Nasioc regarding suspension and wheels that you'll want to check out as well.
