Has anyone used plasti-dip "smoke" to tint there tail lights? Do they look dark but still let the lights shine through OK?

Just...don't. It will negatively affect light output. You might still be able to see the lights through the nightshade or whatever tint you use but IMO it is still not a good idea.

^^ This ^^ But if you really want to tint the tail lights, I'd get to know someone who paints cars. They'll tint some clear and make a few different test sprays on something that light can shine through, and then you make a decision. I wouldn't tint my tail lights without knowing how much light will shine through first.

That's why I figured to use plasti-dip because it can peel off if its too dark , but I don't think I will waste my money on it if others have tryed it before and it didn't work.
    Thanks

I would say if you want to smoke your tail lights, just do the traditional way and use niteshade. If you end up night liking it use carb cleaner to take it off. I'll do it without any scrubbing or anything like that. Just make sure that you take the tail light off as it will eat away at paint. After you've taken it off polish polish polish/ water with some dawn to get all the cleaner off. I did it to mine and it didn't cause any spider cracking or fogging.

Mine even let light through and I still got pulled over for it. If you use pasti-dip I'd assume it won't let much, if any, light through. It'll be unsafe to you, anyone around you, and will be very easy to spot for the troopers.

If you want a light "smoke" do as I stated above and you'll save yourself a lot of time. No need to re-invent the wheel when it comes to smoking tail lights. Just my $.02

Yeah, no. The only thing tinting tail lamps does is attract police and tickets. Save your nickel and dime mod money up for a mod that actually does something for your car besides cost you motor vehicle law violations.

I tried the plastidip on some spare turn signals I had.
Its too dark unless you leave the plastidip spotty and thin

Just use electrical tape. It will save you time both on plasti dip and waiting for someone to rear end you...
