I'm heading over to Bills to pick up my new toy and I figured I'd put a couple hundred rounds downrange. Anyone interested? I'll be getting there around 7pm and hope to be sending rounds into paper by 7:02 or so. They've got a bunch of decent guns for rent, and if you've got your own, bring em. After that I'll drop off the gun at the house and head over to Firestone. Hope to see you there!

Sounds like it could be pretty cool...
How much do they want for rents?
    Age limit?
    Training required?
    Directions?

www.billsgs.com is the web address. I'll be at the one in Robbinsdale, just north on 81 from North Memorial. Looks like you have to be 18 or older. Also, if you're alone you may need a permit to purchase a firearm, as in the past people have gone in and rented a gun then committed suicide there in the range. Typically, it's 20 bucks for a range fee, then 15.00 per gun. .40-2.00 per target, plus a few bucks for eye and ear protection and 12.00 for ammo (50 rnd box) and you're probably looking around 50-75 bucks. As far as training, they can show you how the gun works, and what to do in the event of a malfunction or jam. They're extremely cool with first time shooters. I don't really recommend going out and finding the biggest caliber you can to shoot for the first time, as it can be pretty abusive and doesn't really allow the shooter to have a good experience, not to mention it can be dangerous if you're not used to the recoil. .22 is a great round to start on, and it's fun as hell to shoot. That, and it's dirt cheap. 9mm is pretty good, .40 is very similar. .357SIG is about the same as a hotter 9mm or .40, but with a lot more bark and muzzle blast. .45 is my favorite, the recoil is more of a push than a snap. .357 and .44 Mag are fun to shoot for the first couple rounds, and then I'm looking for something else. .50 is just insane, and wayyyy too expensive to shoot recreationally unless you've got much dinero, as 6 shots are almost 20 bucks. I can have someone stomp on my hands and punch me in the shoulders for a lot less than that. Any other questions, just let me know.

They rent select-fire submachineguns and assault rifles there too (but only if the owner is around to supervise; might need an appointment).
That gets really spendy quick though; all of the fees listed above, PLUS add $50* for the rental. (* Disclaimer: my info is a few years old, haven't been there lately)

If you want to shoot full-auto for dirt cheap, drive up to Princeton for their annual thing-- the third Saturday in September, $10 admission and you pay for the ammo you shoot, and that's it! Sweet deal and great fun. And instead of boring paper targets, you get to shoot at minivans, toilets, lawnmowers, and mostly-empty propane tanks (!).
