So I have my 2005 WRX with the VF-39, 565CC modified injectors, 255 pump, and FMIC (I am planning on a big turbo soon) and it just doesn't feel right. Does anyone have a WRX with close to the same set up I can ride it to compare?? Please and thanks!!
what doesn't feel right? the lag with the fmic? the spool too slow? I'll give you a ride in my 16g (not too much of a comparision, but in the same ball park). Looks like I might have be at FS Friday
Me! in Rochester with a TMIC and wotboy enginuity/romrader tune. - also thinking about evo III 16G turbo...
my car just feels too slow for the horsepower that I SHOULD be putting down. I might just be spoiled with my 150 wheel horsepower CBR929 but still. I am searching for a good 16G to port and polish and some upper 600cc injectors I think I will shoot for 290-300WHP. Can I do that with a 16G?? I will be at firestone Friday night hopefully I can take a quick spin in either a VF-39 rex or a 16G rex. Just look for me I have a black 2005 wrx with a FMIC and a dumb dented rear bumper that some old ass lady did to me at the mall.
I agree.....I am going to go bigger (I think 680cc should be big enough) very soon add a BCS and get a custom tune. I am just waiting for it to warm up so I can ride my motorcycle while the car is in the shop. I'll probably have Justin do the install but I need to find a tuner. I would love to find 1 place to do the install and tune all at once...any ideas?
Sportbike Rider Dyno'd it at 129. 150 is along the lines of what the modern 1000RR puts down. http://images.sportrider.com/bikes/dyno-2001-hon-cbr929rr.gif
You were just mad you got beat, either way having someone experienced to tune your car via road tune or dyno tune is the way to go.
yes 129 RWHP stock...I have a full Erion race system, high flow filter, better plugs, a few different emission removal mods, and a power commander (similar to an access port) with a custom tune, it put down around 150 on the dyno. who knows what I would run on a different dyno maybe 145 who knows. From what I have seen 150 might be a little high...I think it is more around 145...still hella fast though. on a separate note I am currently using a cobb map from their website for the VF-39 with 565cc injectors. I agree that a custom tune is what I need. Off the shelf maps are for n00bs.
I always thought that.....but my wallet said "OTS until you have money" steve - I'll be at firestone around 8 tonight if you are there.
Do you have the right restrictor pill in there? I had the same problem. 18 psi did not feel like 18 psi. I put the pill in and it was a night and day difference. Something to check out.
pretty sure my xpt 'mail order' is just as fast if not faster than a road tuned car....example i raced taras and it was side by side...hmmmmmm mail order sucks huh??? i think you need to do your research but dave if your still there at 9:15 or so i'd like a ride too...the stage 2 is startin to feel slowwwww
i wills im not afraid to lose but i just dont like how people knock on all ots maps...braden from xpt puts alot of effort into his stuff and they are very good maps.....but bring
let me put it this way, if you got a mail order map and it ended up working out well then congratulations, it only happens to one out of every 20 people who buy them.
Taras is still running the stock BCS, by the way. Try a appropriately tuned GMBCS car, or a stage 1 2.5L ().
The XPT maps are probably the best OTS maps I've seen. While still an OTS map, I'd venture to bet only 1/20 people have problems with them. In addition, Braden offers tweaking based on logs for free on his website. For $$/performance, the XPT maps are a steal.
He just went with the GMBCS on his car For mail order maps, either the tuner knows wth they're doing or they don't. If they do, you're in good hands If they don't, that's a booboo for you.
