check out the article! I found it rather amusing. And of course, its subaru related http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090912/ap_on_re_us/us_masked_speeder;_ylt=AoW2mLiF05vnX_MGqW29ubgDW7oF;_ylu=X3oDMTJtOGl0NW1wBGFzc2V0A2FwLzIwMDkwOTEyL3VzX21hc2tlZF9zcGVlZGVyBHBvcwM1BHNlYwN5bl9hcnRpY2xlX3N1bW1hcnlfbGlzdARzbGsDYXJpem9uYWRyaXZl here's a section from the article " A driver has racked up dozens of speeding tickets in photo-radar zones on Phoenix-area freeways while sporting monkey and giraffe masks, and is fighting every one by claiming the costumes make it impossible for authorities to prove he was behind the wheel. "You've got to identify the driver, and if you can't it's not a valid ticket," said Dave VonTesmar, a 47-year-old flight attendant said. It took Arizona state police months to realize the same driver was involved and was refusing to pay the fines. By the time they did, more than 50 of the tickets had become invalid because the deadline for prosecution had passed. Authorities have since stepped up their efforts to ensure that VonTesmar pays his $6,700 in fines. On Aug. 19, the Arizona Department of Public Safety served VonTesmar in person with 37 tickets, mostly between 11 and 15 mph over the speed limit. The pictures accompanying the tickets show a driver wearing either a monkey or giraffe masks in VonTesmar's white Subaru, which has black-and-white checkered racing stickers on its sides and a sticker on the windshield that reads "Bucktooth Racin'."
retards like this F*** it up for the rest of us... this aint peaceful resistance this is willful manipulation of a loophole so the jackoff can break the law... lets hope that they dont catch him wrapped around a tree or planted in the side of a family of 6's minivan still wearing his mask..
I think its great. Like he said, it isn't an officer out there protecting public safety...its a speed tax, and is really only about money.
agreed except that he is still caught speeding... we have had speed cameras for the last 15yrs in Australia.. worse over there is they take points of your license too.. like 2 points... I think you have 10 or 12 to begin... My brother in-law got stung 3 times by the same camera in a mountainous area with sweet twisties... He made my sister take one of the points (she said she was driving) the other 2 times, you could see his bald head, and BIG nose in the other ha ha ha yes it sucks.. but NOT speeding is a good way to not give them money either!!!
If it is indeed about public safety then the AZ DPS will need to show conclusively that the existance of the cameras has indeed reduced accidents in general and fatalities as a result of speeding. If there is no conclusive evidence pertaining to improved safety then the cameras need to go away since they will at that time be more for raising revenues than for their alleged purpose. I oppose cameras as a means of dispensing tickets. The cameras should be there as supporting evidence when an officer pulls you over or there is an accident involving speeding but not in lieu of an actual officer. As for the perpetrator in the article its hard for me to either support or chastize him. Its not the approach I would take with consideration of their system but it may just prove to be effective for him and to bring general awareness to an unfair ticketing practice. I could fly to AZ, borrow my brothers car, get caught speeding by a camera, and he'd get the ticket. My brother and I look nearly identical and a camera at distance would not be able to clearly tell us apart. That, among other reasons, is why its unfair.
Whata dumb *********. Just slow down. And what the hell is buck tooth raceing? Really, you are a race car driver? Really? Retard....
