My latch is also broken, otherwise I would give you mine. :hsugh:

I've just learned to live with it I guess. Didn't buy the car for its flawless interior design.

afaik, the latches break on these all the time, and you'll have difficulty finding one here that isn't broken. May want to look into ordering one from mtka. :(

Not to get off topic but... What latch breaks top or bottom latch and any reason why? Is it when they get loose like mine currently is.

umm, both, I think, but I'm not sure. I don't have one :)
But on Jason's, the top part is broken... actually I think both are broken, and he tried to replace it with one from here, and that one was broken, and I've seen quite a few threads where people are looking for these because the latch to the top breaks.

I have no idea if it's because they're getting loose or what - anyone care to help Mr D out?

If it is like mine it is a little, one-piece, plastic lever with a notch for locking into/under a metal plate and it has as part of it a pivot pin. This weak, thin, multi-armed piece is, well, weak and thin. So it eventually breaks. It seems proper operational finesse is the only longevity variable involved here. So far only my top latch is broken. The last owner tried to glue pieces of velcro onto it and that is even more annoying.

I found an 05 2.5 RS in a u-pull and found the latch positions had changed between the 05 and my 02 (one latch is centered and the other is off-set). They were unwilling at that time to sell me just the pivot/latch/lever piece as they had not even started to process that car yet (July/August).

The u-pull was in Rock Falls, WI about 15-20 minutes south of Eau Claire, if any of you care.

Thanks guys, I guess I'll just figure out a way to secure it because the jiggling really bugs me.
