I have a quick question about the 260-4701 head stud, does anyone have the dimensions of it? and also how long the threads go down on it?

the heads I bought came with arp head studs but they are chrome? I have been told the ones I need are black?

anyways, the length and thread depth would be great for the 260-4701 head stud.

    thanks!

also, I need to know the torque settings for the studs and bolts as well.

From the conversation I had with someone at ARP last winter, IIRC, the 260-4701 set is 8.7 inches long, and the 260-4702 is 9.5 inches long.

Personally, torquing them and letting them loose four times will trash a set of headgaskets, as you will not want to use them after they have been crushed by full clamping pressure and let loose again.

It depends on if they clear the cams. I know splinter over on the bbs had trouble with this on his RS-RA motor. The 4701 kit was too short, and the 4702 kit only left 2-3mm clearance between the top of the studs and the cam.

Just make sure the studs bottom out in the block. Don't ask me how I know this...

these are used studs so am I going to need to do the 4 time deal?

does water run across our studs or is it a dark hole?

thanks for the help dan the man. also, im waiting on the injectys just because im so close to having the car done, who knows what im going to have to buy last second ;)

I can't wait much longer on the injectors.

Yes, as the instructions say, put the studs in all the way down finger tight, and using the factory sequence, 3 equal steps to 80lb-ft using the arp moly lube. Its more if using 30wt.
