Howdy folks...it's been a hot minute... Admittedly, typing this is much harder than I thought, and it's painful to do. Here goes... My family has gained more friends because of Subaru than probably any other hobby, activity, or passion we have folded into our lives. For this I am grateful. Some of my best friends are because of bonding created over this common interest. Some of you already know that my family has had a tough year, and many of you have been way beyond generous. For this I am truly grateful. Long story short we tried really hard to not run into a financial disaster...but we did. I went through a fairly long period of unemployment and under employment, had some serious problems with a previous employer, and to top it all off my wife and our youngest son had some health concerns through our last pregnancy/birth (everyone is fine and health now thankfully). At the suggestion and behest of a fellow member here on the forum I put together a gofundme campaign. We are trying to raise money to save our house from going into foreclosure. We don't expect anyone to help us out more than people already have. If you have the ability to help us - thank you! If you can offer moral support - thank you! If you can help someone else out at some point in the future - thank you! I have been dreadfully embarrassed to talk to anyone about our situation, but after months of negotiating with our lender, and denial after denial for a mortgage modification they have given us two weeks to pay up on our loan or they have so politely offered to help us go through foreclosure or to liquidate our house. I'm back to work now and we are in a better situation; but plain and simple our mortgage lender just won't work with us and we don't have any more savings to use. We have tried other lending solutions but our lender again won't work with us. I know we aren't the only ones who had a hard time through the "great recession", and I feel guilty asking for help, but this campaign is probably one of the last things we can do to get our family through this. Thank you for reading. Thank you for your support. Link here: gofund.me/orestfamily
TBH MNsubaru is like a family and when some of us stumble the others will help us up. I contributed what I could because I can semi - relate. I hope everything works out just fine for you and your family , Yusef. God Bless.
I'm glad Surly pinned the thread, I was about to last night but wasn't sure if that would be OK or not! Yusef, are you currently working on cars? If so feel free to make a post in the Mods&Maintenance forum as well, perhaps there are some folks who need some work done and would be happy to send it your way?
I will be needing my brakes bled in the next week or so, depending on how quickly I can rebuild my caliper. Any interest Yusef? I want to make a donation but don't have a means of getting money into the webz.
WOW!! Thank you everyone for being so generous!! This is really helping us out! There has been an influx of kind words, messages, and donations. My wife was flabbergasted by the response. This community is amazing and I am really proud to belong. THANK YOU!!
Eric and Ryan - Thank you both. I would be glad to help bleed your brakes Ryan - I think sometime in mid-jnuary I should have some space open. Eric - I have not been able to work on cars regularly for quite some time now. I am presently working out of the metro area; I'm back to selling electricity for a living....plus, I cut through a tendon in my left hand back in September and my fatigue rate is still pretty high. However, I am willing to work with folks that I can fit in. Thanks again!
Thank you Brett! No matter what your wife or any of your man friends tell you...you will always be beautiful to me!!
Thanks for the update Yusef, obviously I'm out of the loop a bit! I've heard folks speak highly of you and your work, so I wish the best for you and your family.
As a relative newbie to this site I don't really know you, nor have I met you in person, but I do remember you chiming in with some words of wisdom on an issue I had with the WRX previously. For that I thank you. Donated what I could currently cuz I know you can use it more than I can right now. Hoping for the best for you and the family. -Cody
Thank you everyone for support and kind words! In a matter of 24 hours the MNSubaru community has helped my family out a great deal - this is one hell of a good group of people!! I wish you all peace and prosperity in the New Year!!
Glad to see all the support going on here. Question though, what's the deal with the equipment the one job kept after they stopped paying you? Ever get it back? Just curiosity making me ask, if it's something you'd rather not discuss, I understand, just thought it sounded a lot like they stole your stuff, which is really ****ty after stopping paying you. Happy new year though and cheers -Greg
Thank you Cody! I look forward to meeting you in person! Thanks Greg!! Much appreciated! Thanks Kong!! We are grateful!
No problem Greg. I don't want to be negative so I will keep it short - I was working at a specialty shop that I found out later has gone through a number of employees in the same fashion...I know they have had thier share of troubles too...but the timing snowballed us to where we are today. I never did get anything back from them. Thanks for being curious! And thanks again for your kindness.
You're a good man, Yusef. You calmed me down when I was stranded at Bobby And Steve's the time I thought my motor exploded! If you are ever in the West 7th Area stop over. I'll cook you some good dinner!
Mike, thank you, that is very kind! I will let you know!! And glad it turned out to be something simple and inexpensive!!
i gave what i could after the holidays and well putting in a new motor (that costs a bit). thanks for letting sheen use the garage. im not sure what i would have done if he didnt volunteer to do it and you have the space for it. thanks.
Thanks Ben! Thats is very gracious! Sorry to hear your car dived on you, but I'm glad sheen could help you and I had the room for you!! Thanks again and good luck!!
Neil!! Thank you very much! In just 4 days my friends, family, and community completely changed this situation for us. We are grateful and totally honored by this outpouring of support!!
I too am proud of all of the forum members who have stepped up and helped. Especially derp...you rock dude.
So an update: In 6 days, seriously, just 6 days...THIS COMMUNITY seriously changed the lives of everyone that lives in my house. If you have met my boys then you know why they say that Subaru's ARE race cars...not regular cars. With only $855 left to go towards the goal this is really happening. My very good friend who is acting as legal adviser to me in this situation said quite literally, "that brings a tear to my eye...", in reference to what this community has done. I know we all support each other, and I am glad for that! I am proud to be part of this community, I am honored to be part of this community, and I can't wait to get out of this mess and throw a big damn BBQ at my house! Thank you everyone. Seriously, just thank you!!
Donated -- don't know you yet, but looking forward to get the opportunity to Wife and I went through our own campaign for help with an adoption, so I know how challenging it can be asking for people to donate. Hope you get things settled.
Thanks Valentine!! We are getting so close it is amazing!! Thank you for your kindness! I look forward to meeting you too!
