Did anyone see the Supercars Exposed where they raced an Aston Martin and a viper against an sti? ....if not I won't spoil it for you ... but I will say I'm proud to own a Subaru ! http://www.mefeedia.com/entry/supercars-exposed-vantage-and-sti-race/12389154
When I click on the link it started playing. I watched it on tv. Do a google search for it, I'm sure there are other websites where you can watch it..
Very cool. But it cut-off when he was about to race the Viper.. I'm guessing the Viper got beat as well.
Given the choice between an STI or an Aston Martin, I think I'd take the Aston Martin every time. I'll take my DBS in Gunmetal with black interior.
Same here. The STI is sooo much more practical. And with the left over money from selling the Aston you could build 2 pretty bad ass Subies.
I think I'd take the Aston over the Viper. I love the Viper, and I have so much respect for it's capabilities in the right hands. However, it's not really a streetable car for every day life. A DBS is on my short list of dream cars, and one of the reasons I like it so much is that it's blended luxury, looks and performance so well. The fact that it's also in a couple of my favorite automotive movie sequences of all time doesn't hurt either I don't think the point of this discussion is to say "I'd take the Aston and sell it and get 3 Subarus". All you're really saying is that you'd take the Subaru and if that's your preference then that's great. If the discussion would be what would you buy if you had XXXX dollars, then the argument is valid. I also think that you can put a modified anything vs a stock car and have it come out on top, but it doesn't mean it's a better car either. Numbers aren't the end all be all to a car, much of it comes down to subjective things that are different for each driver.
I don't think the Vanquish is still in production anymore, but both that and the DBS make me feel funny downstairs. I'd take either one of them in a heartbeat.
Well said. Also, now that you can pick up a DB7 Vantage or 996tt in the $40k range, I'd personally much rather have one of those than a $20k STi +$20k in mods. Actually, come to think of it, I'd even take a used 997tt or used Maserati Gran Turismo for 80-90k over 3 brand new STi's. oh, also, link to nasioc thread with more details about the STi in the OP of this link: http://www.mnsubaru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23225&highlight=exposed
They did say on the show that the amount of money invested in the sti is equal to buying one of the other cars.
I wouldnt want to pay the insurance for an aston or the viper and living in minnesota im still going with with the pair o subies. Clearly the cars arent even in a comparable class from the factory or modded out. The subaru may have won on the track but they are no aston on the inside.
Ummmm... The STI is already expensive to insure. Consider these monthly payments for full coverage, second vehicle, $250 deductible: $130 - 01-04 911 Turbo $120 - Maserati gransport $120 - DB7 vantage $50 - Renault R5 turbo2 $90 - viper $90 - z06 $100 - lotus elise/exige compared to $75 a month for the STI with HIGHER deductible ($500). Same deductible would put me on par with a viper/z06 range.
