http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-...lekom-s-t-mobile-usa-unit-for-39-billion.html Ughhh this is quite sad for we Tmobile customers. I hope AT&T does not plan to change Tmobile service plans, otherwise...
I think it's very likely AT&T will eventually change all pricing/billing to conform with what they do. Earlier billing cycles, no more unlimited data and of course more expensive plans.
Just more incentive to not bother with contracts at all. Now that you can get current phones on pay-as-you-go plans, what's the point? "Free" phones that we pay for twice over the length of a two year contract?
why not? have you read the antitrust paperwork? In the short term I'm sure it'll be like every other buy out (cingular, alltel, virgin, etc...)... you keep your current plan and device until the contract runs out or you opt out with no cancellation fee. In the long term it looks like this is their plan: http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/21/confirmed-atandt-wants-to-use-t-mobiles-aws-spectrum-for-lte-bui/ As long as they continue supporting android devices and coverage/speeds increase I'll probably stick with tmo/att. Unless of course their family plan cost more than Verizon (I can't imagine myself ever going back to Sprint).
Ya I called and they say it could take up to a year to finish the merger. But it is a for sure thing.
Great, I was with At&t, they sucked ass, so I left, went to cingular, baam, they got rocked by At&t, now its happening again, GOD DAMN IT.
No, it'll be that little orange guy and Catherine Zeta-Jones forcing a wierd blue globe thing into the ass of a customer while simultaneously slapping the cellphone out of the customer's hand.
The issue i see with pay as you go plans for 3g/4g phones is that they "might" cost as much as to be on a contract plan or even worse.
That was my first reaction too. But I can't remember the government denying any big deals like this. They probably wouldn't have done it if they didn't have very good reason to believe the government would approve it.
Exactly. I was pwned by att in a bad way. Still fighting them through the Better Business Bureau and the Federal Trade Commission. A bunch of lying, cheating, thieves. I had great service with T-Mo, but had to try the iPhone and switched to the butt-globe. Lame. Jumped to Verizon the day it was available. All good now.
