Looking to update the speakers in the 2015 Forester XT. It did have an aftermarket radio when I got it. I replaced it with an Android 9" screen. I don't want to run amps if I can help it. I will need 2.75" dash tweeters, 6x9" front door speakers and 6.75" rear door speakers. I do have a small self-powered 8" sub for under the pass seat. The radio has a less than optimal equalizer. Looking for forgiving speakers.

The ask... Looking for advice on what speakers to use. Not looking to run an amp. However, if I do... what amp and what remote wires could I run (RCA to amp, speaker wire back to harness). I've done all kinds of aftermarket radios, but not in 25+ years. I am not going to run new wires to all the speaker locations. So if anything is amp'd, it will run on factory wires.

I was looking at Kickers CS vs KS. CS is ok for stock, KS for amp'd. However, I'd rather have good front speakers and mediocre rear speakers. It's all about the driver (of the car). I want all the same brand if possible. If not, at least the 2.75 and the 6x9s all the same brand.

Oh, and the budget is less than $350.

I'm pretty sure I saw somewhere you can fit 3" speakers in the dash. My plan is to run a 6x9 component system up front.

Yeah, I'm ordering these. I'm sure Erik can do better than $250. Crutchfield for 4 speakers was more than $200. Still need to order the dash speakers.

Ordered the factory Kicker upgrade. That upgrades to 6x9 fronts and all component speakers. Then for fun, I order Pioneer 2.75" component dash speakers. Probably around $275 for everything. Can't wait for a nice warm weekend to pop these in.

I’m guessing that the difference from the stock components will be hugely noticeable. And, plug and play FTW

I'm very curious to see how it goes for ya! I've been considering a speaker upgrade in the STI and already have a Kenwood Head unit, which is the notorious weak point in the system. Mine has an interesting oem+ looking amp under the passenger seat too that I've not looked into where it's wired to.
