My 02 WRX wagon has the Auto-dimming rear view mirror w/ compass (KYE)

Currently the compass has not been working correctly (points west most of the time).

Has anyone encountered this, and know if there is a fix (aside from black tape over LED).

Don't know if this is what you need but its worth a try. I shortened things up a bit from the actual manual.

    Compass zone adjustment:
    1. Push and release right button for 3 sec. The word "zone" will appear then zone # will be displayed.
    2. Press the right button repeatedly through the zones most of Mn is zone#7 Wisconsin is mostly#8 stop at your zone. Don't press anything for a few seconds and that should set your zone.

    Compass Calibration Adjustment:
    1. Switch off nonessential electrical items. Heat/air,radio,shut doors.
    2. Drive to an open area away from large metallic objects and turn ignition to "on".
    3. Press and hold left button for three seconds and release "CAL" and direction will be displayed.
    4. Drive slowly in a circle until "CAL" disappears from display 2-3 circles compass should now be calibrated.:)

Hopefully this takes care of the problem.

    mine too

Mine was stuck on north for awhile, i just doulbe checked my "zone' and then calibrated it. Go to an empty parking lot, hold the left button for a few seconds and drive in circles until it calibrates itself.
