I need a new windshield as it decided to eat a rock on the Fun Run. I have full glass coverage so price isn't an issue but I'm just wondering who uses real OEM glass here in the cities(I don't need the box of steaks is what I'm saying). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, guys!

Edit for Justin - Progressive will waive your deductible if you pay for the coverage....you must not have had it cuz my policy says 500/0 for glass. w00t!!!!

I had mine done at Harmon glass and got OEM, but you have to ask for it and it may take a few days/week. I have an '05 which has that screen print above the rear-view, which the aftermarket didn't have. Otherwise I don't know that it would make much difference; the Safelight or whatever they use may actually be better than OEM.

I know there are those claims of lightweight glass in the STi, but from reading on nasioc, etc. it sounds like it is the rear glass that is thinner; the front is the same for all Imprezas.

Mine looks like it might have a tint in the front but I'm not sure.

I just had my windshield replaced last week and I called our internal company to come do it. I had to specify that I wanted OEM glass from Subaru. They had to notify the insurance company, and it was more expensive for State Farm, but they did it. It's always weird ordering parts for your own car.

I believe that the STi's only have thinner glass in the rear. And OEM glass has an approx 98% tint in the front.

I replaced my glass with non-OEM once because of a crack. It was super cheap as I didn't want Farmers involved. The new glass is not shaped the same. Near the side edges, it has much more curve and the windshield wipers can't bend enough around it to get good wiping near the bottom. Minus that problem, I like it more than OEM. The after-market glass has taken much more of a beatin' and has not cracked yet. So far it has lasted 3 times longer. Also it doesn't have that screen print at the top edge... which is ok for me.
