anyone with an auto that is looking for a swap here is your 1 stop shop! 139k on 93 Legacy Trans with all linkage (trans feels GREAT no grinds and linkage is TIGHT!) less than 1k on new exedy knock off clutch 5 speed petal box with clutch cable 5 speed drive shaft 3.90 rear diff cv axles I can also draw up a wiring diagram to trick the neutral switch sensor on your harness. asking 250.00:biggrin:
Which driveshaft comes with it? IIRC the Leggy one is slightly longer than the impreza one for 5spds. I ran into this problem when I did my conversion.
yes, but I think you have a hydro clutch setup, it would be a lot of work. m155l3r! buy it! I need monies
Its not a lot of work to go from hydro to cable or vice versa. You have to crawl under the dash, but still NBD.
I layed my stock driveshaft next to a 04 wrx one, the wrx one is about 2.5 inches shorter. the kit will come with the wrx driveshaft for you impreza owners. for the legacy you can make it work with both the auto and manual ones
if anyone needs ANY of these parts let me know, they have to be out of my garage ASAP.............. or dads gonna cut my peen off.
Sorry to clutter your FS thread with newb ?'s, but would this work to swap a 2001 2.5RS (NA pretty much stock) 4EAT and what else would I need? Not looking for a detailed how-to or anything, just trying to gauge if this could work for me and if it's something I could dive into right now.
if you did get this man you would need a clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate. and of course a fancy shift knob. and shift linkage??? idk what other terms that might fall under..
i think you have yourself a whole setup. if you really want a manual to improve your gas milage and make your car finally a man. then you would be stupid NOT to buy this. the only other thing you would need is a flywheel from any 2.5L engine. which you can get almost anywhere or ebay has some fidanza aftermarket ones. for the whole set up plus a flywheel you are looking at around $500 and that is for a NEW flywheel from subaru. imagine what you could get one used for.
It's not so much for the gas - it's for the fun! The gas thread's more to see if something's wrong that and I should be getting more than I am. If I was super concerned about mileage I woulda bought a Prius or a Smart and drove like a blind grandma and hugged some trees (j/k - kinda)
it comes with a flywheel from a 2.2l, but that will work on your 2.5 no problem, all EJ series engines use the same flywheel bolt pattern. get it! :yumyum:
Looks like I'm buying it. A tranny-swap thread will follow!!     EDIT: It's in my garage now. Yay! Thanks a ton, man, and nice to meet you.
