I just like to take every opportunity I can to complain about Cobb. I ordered the CAI for my '99 rs and it was shipped to me without the instruction manual/parts list. I sent them an e-mail requesting it and they sent me the instructions/parts list for the 2000-2002 stage 1 power package. I sent them two more emails requesting atleast the parts list for the '99 CAI so I could make sure everything was there. They never answered me. I had to drive down from my house in Duluth to my parents in Minnetonka because I have no tools here. When I tried to put the CAI in guess which piece was wrong. Yeah the rubber piece that connects the CAI to the MAF, the piece that comes only on the '99 intake. I had to ghetto rig it on by shaving down the MAF and heating up the rubber connector to stretch it over. The performance I got from it was great but I would never buy anything from Cobb again unless there was not a viable substitute available.

I'd rather be stabbed in the eye than buy a Cobb product.

Cobb was a good vendor when I dealt with them two years ago...
Being such a strong vendor in the Subaru community, I would think they should do as they promise. Go post on Cobb's forum and talk about the situation you're in; I'm sure Cobb will help you out in there. :)

It isn't like they can do much now. I already shaved down the MAF and if they sent me the right piece now it probably wouldn't even fit. I just wanted to warn everyone how unprofessional they are. It is sad because I really like the intake otherwise.

I just wanna say that your experience with Cobb was unfortunate, however those guys have so much knowledge in subarus, have dealt with them many times. bought everything from brake pads to acces-ports, and new maps for it and its truly amazing. Just sticking up for my boys at Cobb. Give them another chance especially if you ever upgrade to a WRX.. This is my 1st post ever on here and just wanna say whats up to everyone on the forum...

For me, it's great that Cobb supposedly has great customer service and they'll work with you to resolve problems. But take a look around--other companies' products just plain work. I genuinely feel bad for the people on NASIOC who had various issues from: cars running stoich AFRs under 14 lbs of boost on 04/05 WRX's, people reflashing new Accessport maps and frying their ECUs because Cobb didn't sufficiently test the stuff they posted on their website, people whose Accessport-equipped cars stall on deceleration! Simply incredible.

Yes, they are innovating. Great, they support you after the purchase. But only the people who have a vested interest--i.e., money sunk into their products--are willing to defend them no matter what. The rest of us on the sidelines just watch in amazement and are, this post notwithstanding, generally left speechless.

After that many emails that were not replied I do not feel they deserve another chance. The lack of professionalism is very upsetting. It was not like I sent them one email and got no reply, I sent them three. They never got back to me. I might have even been willing to forgive and forget had they sent me another email explaining why they were unable to respond but I never got one. The fact is that they are a very poor company and I will never purchase from them again unless there are no viable alternatives.

Question for you folks then, since I stopped perusing NASIOC a long time ago: who is making the hot cams for turbo RS these days?

And can I mention JC Sports? Remember the problems folks had with them back in the day? But if you lived in CO near them they'd treat you like gold. Weird, maybe it's because if you can show up at their shop with a tire iron they feel the need to kiss your rear.

Good decision. :p The signal-to-noise ratio on that forum is awful. The only forum I still read is Engine Management & Tuning, and the occasional search for PDXTuning's posts about the new gargantuan turbos they are testing.

Not sure on cams. You looking for 264's? 272's? Dunno what your stock ones are I guess.
