Hey now, all Subaru's today are still loosely based on the Legacy which debuted in 1989. It was the first car on the EJ platform, and what Subaru started their rally effort with. Everything after has been a modification of that platform. The fact of the matter is, I can bolt an entire '07 driveline, crossmembers and all into my first gen Legacy. I haven't been under an '08 Impreza or '05+ Legacy yet so I couldn't tell you there.
you're preaching to the choir captain. but the truth is, the legacy is a revised EA platform. the only major difference is the rear suspension, and even that has similarities by the dozen. and the smaller differences (5-lug, tranny xmember redesign, adjustable front camber, etc.) were all tested out on the XT6. the boxer engine by design had already been around for 20 years when the legacy came out. symmetrical 4WD for 15. turbo boxers for 7 (IIRC). EA82 5-speed internals are identical to EJ stuff except the center diff/pinion gear and bellhousing. They got it right with the legacy, but that was by no means the beginning. also, sure the SWRT hadn't existed yet, but the RX was already a pretty competitive rally car before the legacy came around.
In a couple weeks, I would like to get together with some other late LGT owners and see what I can do better.

it doesnt matter anymore becuase i bought some wrx rims and tires anyways. but i was gonna get some deep dish (or kind of) bbs wheels off this carrado.
