Right now my daily driver 02 subaru wrx has a td05-16g, fmic, after market header, up-pipe, and a catless turbo back. Everything except the turbo and cat back is no-name so i assume its all ebay, and i also suspect the header leaking out of the flex pipe. So pretty much what I'm asking is how much would i be looking to spend to get a stock wrx header, an sti up-pipe, vf series turbo, and either a stock wrx tmic or sti tmic? Or is there any other parts that would be better for a stockish reliable daily? Thanks!
I've got a tmic from my 06 wrx.. 50$ it's all yours Also, if you want to keep the header, Fobia could weld in a new flex section.. Other wise, I may be persuaded to put my new turbo, up pipe and headers into my car if you want to buy the stock stuff
I literally had all that stuff at one point, would have sold it to you for like 150 bucks lol, just cleaned the garage out and sold it off. Only thing I have left is a stock TMIC for an FXT or WRX.
Dang $150, I thought I was gunna be spending like $800 or more. That's good to know though. And @Ryan FailRad ill let you know in about a month if I want your set up. Just looking to keep my daily decently stock.
@Jake underwood are you sure its leaking from the flexpipe? My headers on the wrx are leaking from the gasket and you can get a gasket set for the 02-07 wrx off rallysportdirect.com for like $19 with shipping maybe a little more but since I got hit the day before they came I havent even opened the box. Id check if its leaking at the flexpipe or at the gasket before you do anything in changing up your set up with that car. Thats just my opinion tho
@wagonsrumble yeah it's definitely the flex pipe, I was under neath the car feeling the exhaust getting pushed out of it. It's a cheap aftermarket header so I'm probably going to replace it with the stock manifolds and use the grimmspeed cross pipe
IMHO, that only way to make it more "reliable" is to go completely back to stock. However, you could get the current setup retuned to a very conservative level (or at least verify with a tuner that the current tune is safe and conservative), and you should be fine. The 2.0L turbo motors are more reliable than the 2.5L, assuming you change your oil frequently with good oil. My only other comment is that if the turbo lag bothers you, you could go back to tmic (retune required) and if it's still too laggy, go to a td04. The 16g shouldn't be too terrible on the 2.0L though.
