those are anti-lag systems. you can tell by how they sound and how the backfire happens a short time after they have let off the gas. They system burns fuel before the turbo to keep it spooled when you are off the gas. Great for racing/rallying but pretty hard on the turbo.
You can make a car do that without using antilag. Either you can retard the timing in those high vacuum areas where you let off, or leave it pretty rich there, like 13:1. I have a rich spot up there around 4k rpm and she'll pop once in a while when I let off :biggrin:
That video should be re-titled to "How to take 10k off the life of your turbo in 1 minute" Sounds pretty sweet tho.
