North of Duluth up along the north shore. There are miles and miles of marked trails. A good friend of mine goes all the time.

The Northern shore is great. There are a couple places a little closer like Taylors Falls that are really nice too. Or, you can go all out. The best place I have ever gone backpacking was in the Rockey Mountains in New Mexico.

Lots of great places. Last summer we hiked in the Bighorns in Wyoming. Got trout every morning for breakfast. Jasper area in Alberta is superb!

I do enjoy backpacking... The north shore is close and do able for a weekender so thatbis why we frequent there.
A little off thread but this should be moved to off topic discussions.
