Damn that sucks.... Fixable? waiting to see zipties video now, they had in car and drivers door cams.
Damn, that happened faster than you can say rally. From the vid it looks like it shouldn't be a total loss. The price of fun just went up. JL on getting her back together.
Damn Mark, I'm just glad to see you guys are ok. Hopefully you'll be back up and running before too long. Carl, what happened to you guys?
Carl told me last night that mark's car is a loss. The roll cage was damaged. Carl hooked a ditch, then some dirt on the outside tipped them over. Rolled 3x. The car and dave are fine, though, which is the important thing.
Our shell is a total loss. I can build a new shell for less than it would cost to fix the current one. Carl's car appears to be fixable. Ojibwe is very doubtful for us.
Mark"s could be fixed but starting on a fresh shell might be easier. Our shell is a little more spendy so we are going to repair. I really want to get home so I can see mark's in car.
Man, that sucks . At least you are all ok. Really wanted to see you guys race through Ojibwe Forest. This turned out to be very expensive sport. GL to you guys getting cars fixed.
I'm sorry to hear about that Mark. It looks like you had an impressive pace going before that happened too. Were you running faster than usual or taking the corners a bit wider than usual? It seems like the previous nemadji in-car I've seen from you you were cutting the corners more. Once you got off the road it seems like it didn't take much to roll the car over... Good luck with rebuilding the car.
From what I heard, it sounded way worse than it looked from the in-car. With the very distinct sounds of the mustang, you could knew who it was. There was a huge smack sound, then you could here the motor rev up, then it was just the sound of a subaru after that. Glad you guys are ok, from the first couple of radio exchanges it almost sounded like you guys were going to need to be cut out of the car. Russ
Standing at the finish line, I just about pooped when the polish team pulled instead of Mayhem. We were all very relieved when the next team had a better story. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. Amy
+1. the limited radio information we heard from service was nerve-wracking, to say the least!! now that I watch it here, I can hear the engine revving after you had rolled it. you really were still trying to drive it out! Good work mark!! glad everyone is OK!
Radio info was very nerve-wracking. As part of Mayhem's service crew, I was freaking on the inside! I wanted to pace, but I needed to be close to the radio...such a dilema. I believe I spent those first few minutes crouched down by the external speaker, rocking in place...just waiting to hear what was going on. Mark always says to never give up. He most certainly followed his own advice! That is the best news of the entire weekend!
when you race long enough and your pushing the car and the track to the limits things are bound to happen. Its good to see proper safty equipment and everyone walks away, like bill says cars can be fixed and or replaced. Hope you can get her back in tip top shape by end of august.
I'm glad you guys are ok. I really HATE watching in-car videos when I know a crash is going to happen.
Mark, I meet you at the car show this year. I'm just glad you and your co-driver are ok. Best of luck man! -Ryan
Here is the video of stage 1. It shows the pace we were running. I want to thank all the folks that helped at our incident. Specifically Herm, Becky, Becky's husband, Frank, Dan, Val, Dave and Brian.
I was all set to pack my sandbags to bring with so I'd have a safe place to spectate when Mark went by Here's hoping you get back up and running again soon Mark! If you guys need an extra hand I'm more than willing to contribute my meager skills as time permits
look closely at the rear quarters of the car. he had some new decals. "If you can read this, DUCK!"
Evidently, too fast. BTW, a piece of advice. After watching your in car, I recommend against converting tulips to numbered notes. The tulips are not accurate enough to directly translate. In my opinion it would be better to call that medium left tightens. By calling it a 4 (and then a 5) tightens, the driver thinks he has a better idea of what is coming. Just my .02
oh trust me... mayhem will be at ojibwe... driving or not we will be there! gotta join in on the party!!
okay...that's good to know. We honestly thought this was the Mayhem way of getting out of partying with the infamous ziptie crew:laugh:
