I need a new battery. I am just going to go to auto-zone but i dont want to buy some pos. So whats a good one to get.
Stay away from the red tops unless you plan on driving all winter. I would just go to fleet farm and get the biggest batt you can get. Red tops (spiral core) batterys don't last through the winter if they jsut sit. I have seen 7-8 of them die (2 myself) when they are just shelved over winter. Russ
I have a plain Optima dry cell in two of my vehicles. One is huuuuge. They both work well. I will be storing one of them this winter and I hope it holds up!
My vote would be on just about any battery, other than the OEM. They are somewhere in the 375CCA range IIRC! Interstate, Die Hard, Batteries Plus....all going to be about the same, after all, they use the same technology. What you should look for is the CCAs >500 (I think most are) unless you are running a big stereo system, in which case a higher CCA or Red Top-type battery is a good idea. All of this is assuming that you are not looking for a weight decrease... If you are, I have an Oddessy battery in my trunk of the RS and it works like a charm!
Not only that, but I'm pretty sure there are really only 3 or 4 manufacturers of automotive batteries in the first place. There are just lots of different rebrandings.
