After being buried in 32" of snow, he took it on a snow covered freeway and wondered why the car was shuddering at 50mph...
Well, Mr. Journalist, as anyone that drives in thick snow will tell you, you probably had snow packed in your wheels. A seven dollar spray wash at a gas station would have solved your technical problem.

Indeed. The legacy/outback issue he is talking about is a steering wheel "shimmy".

Also, Subaru's do not want to be rev'd high all the time.

Crosstrek looks interesting though. We probably would have went for one over the Forester had it been in the lineup at the time.

Not that I am currently in the market for a new car, but I always like to have an emergency plan, and I think that if my WRX took another big bite, I would highly consider this car. It seems as though it would fit all the needs that I would have for the foreseeable future.

I would probably hold on to the WRX and turn an XV into the DD. I am a big fan of the new imprezas, and this would give that extra little "oomph" for DD performance.

No complaints for the NF 2.1 as a DD though ;)
