IMO there are no good all season tires (for cars) I always vote for summer tires and winter tires!

I thought the Continental ContiExtremeContact's were awesome all season tires. They might be perfect for you because they lean a little towards the bad weather performance versus the dry. I had them on an 88 BMW 325is and the winter handling in the light little RWD car was vastly improved.

    http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Continental&tireModel=ContiExtremeContact

If I bought all season tires now, I would probably snag a set of these. I currently use a sperate winter summer setup so I can maximize the setup I have for the summer.

nokian WR would be the best all season, more winter biased of course though

I used Yoko AVS S2s on my turbo RS and will likely replace my LGTs RE92s when it's time. The snow traction wasn't anything spectacular but wet traction was better than some summer tires I've used. They're also Z-rated and did pretty well on the track. Gravel performance was pretty poor on them, though I had Pirelli K4s for that.

I've heard a lot of good reviews of the Kumhos so for a budget they must be great. I'm just too biased towards Yokos for all-season and summer tires that I haven't given them a chance.

Nokian WRs are the only "all-season" type tire that get the mountain snowflake logo.
They are good enough to be dedicated snows (though there are certain better snow only options), but won't melt in the summer. They're decent in the dry, but I certain wouldn't autox with em. :)
These are the only "all-season" I'd use in snow.

+1 on the Continental ContiExtremes if you want more of a sporting tire, +1 on the Nokian WR if traction is more important to you. Both will be good tires with a long tread life. My parents are on WRs, I used to run the Contis.

    a big +1

all season tires are a huge compromise. They suck for summer performance and they suck in the winter.

I agree, I had the Contis on my 9-2x, never had the slightest problems in the snow, even driving in the real heavy, slushy stuff on the interstate. They were actually better than I expected in the summer, and you sure can't beat the price.

The ASXs are pretty good as well, that's what my wife has on her Focus. However, once they start wearing down, they get real bad in the snow. Hers looked like they would last another winter, but now that we've got a few inches on the ground, I can barely get around town. Nothing but tire spinning and sliding. If I wasn't moving out of the country in 2 months, I'd definitely be putting on 4 new ASXes, because they're like half the price of most tires, and we got over 40k out of these.

I had the conti extreme contacts on for one winter and they were pretty good. I run summer wheels/winter wheels now though.

All season = sucks in all conditions. You have a SPORTS car, get dedicated tires for winter and summer.

All-seasons don't suck in all conditions, they just don't do well in ANY condition.

ASX? re960? You guys must be joking...

Nokian WR are far better than any other "all season" for snow and ice, but not so much for water and warmer weather. They are a very good option for a minivan/camry or smth that is never pushed even when its warm/wet.
On an absolute snow/ice traction WRs are like a crappy dedicated winter tire.

I would also recommend a dedicated winter tires. People often say its expensive, but essentially the additional cost relative to all-seasons - is a set of extra rims. Having winter tires makes your other tires last longer, so you save there.

I have had 2 all seasons on my car before.

1st was some no name. were brand new w/ the car. burned them down to nothing in less than 3 months. junk

2nd, got some potenza g009s AMAZING in rain. never had anything better. snow is alright the first year, but once you hit the harder compound you are going no where. got about 60k on them now (rated for 50k) and they are almost slicks. These tires are also pretty good on gravel. i have debated buying them again over a dedicated summer. dry traction is good.

So far my Goodyear Eagle F1 A/S have been pretty good. They've served amazingly well on high speed twisties and in rain. Performance is alright in the snow but after driving the wifes MINI with Revo 1s I had to order mine.

    Cons: Pricey

AWD vehicles can get away with it far, far easier than our 2WD foes. Besides, you really need dedicate wheels and tires for the seasons, not just the rubber.

I don't really miss swapping tires on my old car depending on my mood. RS wheels with all-seasons, RS wheels with Toyo Proxes for track days, Compomotives with Pirelli K4s for rally-x or when I was on the ranch, and then another set of Compos with Hakkas for bad snow/ice days. OK actually I do miss it...

    +1

I just put these on my car and they have been doing well thus far and we've already seen 10" of snow in one storm at our place.

Here are all of the allseason tires I've had experience with:

    Bridgestone RE92
    Dunlop SP Sport 4000
    Falken Ziex 512
    Continental ContiExtremeContacts
    Michelin ESX

And here's how I'd rate them overall:

    1. Dunlop
    2. Falken
    3. Conti
    4. RE92
    5. Michelin ESX

I would say that #1 & #2 are probably a tie in my book. The Dunlop is a little better in the slop and the Falken was a little better in the dry due to the stiffer sidewall. I'd probably get the Falkens again simply because they cost less (ie, their cost/performance ratio was better).

I pretty much hated my Contis -- yes, it had better grip everywhere over the RE92 (but less than either the Falken or Dunlop), but it's sidewall was waaaaaaayyyy too soft for my liking. There was absolutely no positive steering feedback. I would never buy these again.

The Michelins are about the same as the RE92 -- an overpriced OEM all season tire. I only got these because they were super cheap (used with only a few thousand miles on 'em). The same goes for the RE92; I'd buy them again, but only if they were really cheap (ie, used takeoffs).
