i know alot of you have been to prokart...so what are your fastest lap times? i was just there a few weeks ago at a bachelor party and managed to pull the fastest time of the day at 42.5. Indoor combined with Outdoor 1. 41.06 Mushashi 2. 42.366 w_o_t_boy 3. 42.5 Justin 4. 45.112 Martin 5. 47.08 tbone 6. 48.00 curly2k3
I got a couple buy one get one race coupons that I've been meaning to use, theres no experation I wonder if they still take them?
was that on just the indoor section or the combined? I went there for the first time this past weekend. on the indoor/outdoor my best was right around a 1.45. i think that is fairly competitive.
When? We should all get together this winter and pool some money so we can rent a location out for the day.
Its not fair Justin weighs 106 1/2 pounds soaking wet. They need to hand out sandbags so everyone can weigh 240#s
Qft. I used to go to maple grove a lot too, but I just went to stockholm a couple weeks ago. Stockholm Motorsports Park is probably the most badass outdoor kart place in the state. Huge outdoor track complete with raised stripes around most corners, it's almost like a real road course. And this course isn't surrounded by tires or walls either, you spin off the road, you go Mario Karting in the grass until you can get back on-road. Also, the karts LAUNCH off an almost seemingly vertical hill (where you first line up) down toward the track itself. lol.. it's awesome. I was surprised to see trailers there of pro kart racers camping and tuning their karts to run on the track. Some of them were tiny little kids all dressed up in full race gear.. and their little ass karts were quicker than a bastard. Basically, they let the pros take to the track for a few laps, then let the rental karts go for some laps, and repeat. Rental is cheap too, cheaper than maple grove. It was like 17 bucks for 2 sessions... and they're long sessions cuz the track is long. For the price, you get a rental helmet and JACKET and a neck brace... no lie  I did like 6 sessions until it got dark and we couldn't run anymore cuz the track isn't lighted. The karts are very well maintained and equally balanced (ie no fuel leaking from the stupid tanks all over your crotch), with fully adjustable seats AND pedals. If you lose at stockholm, there is no way you can use the "I got a ****ty kart" line as an excuse. The only thing that sorta sucked was that they don't time your laps, so you get no timeslips. But the track is so long and wide that you'll actually have the space to be in constant battle with your buddies - and I mean neck and neck. The battles at stockholm are like 10x better than the battles you get at maple grove, just cuz of the wider and longer track. Staying in front is pure pressure, cuz the karts are so equal that just one tiny little mistake and you will be trailing real quick. It got dark before I could use up all my tickets, so I got 2 left, probably gonna go down sometime again before it gets too cold. It's good all season and into next season too I believe. Edit: forgot to put up their address if you guys wanna check it out. It's kinda far from the cities though, I'd say like an hour or more. Stockholm Motorsports Park 13185 US Hwy 12 SW Cokato, MN 55321 320-286-3200 (got that info off my remaining tickets :laugh
i'm confused. your sheet makes no sense. there is no way you can do the hole track averaging only 16mph in 45.x seconds. i think my average was something like 30mph. and it says indoor on the fastest track record and its 18 seconds...mine says fastest track lap is 38.x seconds.
I'll have to look for my sheets too, but mine might be from the other pro kart location, imo i think its better.
Thanks for the for the review on Stolkholm. I'll definetely check it out sometime (if it's not too far from the cities). Which makes me ask, how far away is Cokato from Bloomington/the cities? Edit: I'm on their site. 45 minutes from the cities. But it's 40 bucks a run?? This place is not cheap... http://www.stockholmkartingcenter.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=20&Itemid=65
yeah i like the other track in Burnsville better, i dont remember what my times were like there, i remember they were faster
i dont know. i was running the course inside and out, so it wasnt just the inside track. maybe they forgot to change the computer or something. This was at the maple grove one if it matters. either way my time is posted in the pic.
Haha, no it's not 40 bucks a run. That's for the pros, as in you bring your own modded kart to use their track for runs. Eventually I think I might wanna do that though... Go here: http://www.stockholmkartingcenter.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=113&Itemid=80 for show-up-and-rent fees. Trust me, their rates are way cool, some of the best of any place I've been to. Even better if you got a small group with you. I bought the 11 pack of test drives, and because we had 4 of us there, they gave us a discount even on that. Far as I'm concerned, the only downsides to this place is no timeslips, and how far away from the cities they are, but that only means shorter lines for you to wait between runs and less crowding from n00bs
so how far away is this stockholm place? i'd be down for taking a short road trip to go kart. that was my first time ever karting and it was a blast...i'd totally be game for going again.
It's about 45mins - 1hour from the cities. I didn't even check out their website until Newb pointed it out to me. Here's some pics of their track off the site. Yes, it's that good  I flew off the track when I overshot that second super sharp turn you can see in the farthest middle-left of the first picture. Then I just Mario Karted myself over the grass to the other side and still kept my position  Edit: Now that I look closely, those pics look a tad old. Like I mentioned before, the track now has the raised stripes around the sweeping corners like on a real track, I dunno the technical term for those things though.
Its nice to see a thread on Karting, it is the best way to improve your driving that I can think of. BTW you have a National Champion on the boards. The picture shows Derek in front of Dan Wheldon, and Scott Dixon during a annual 200 mile endurance race at New Castle Motorsports Park in Indiana. In fact Derek is there this weekend competing against 100 teams in this event. Links: www.ekartingnews.com www.wagnerraceproducts.com

mike it was really nice meeting up with you tonight. thanks for all the info on karting...i look forward to learning more. now about that meet at prokart...
How about it? Lets talk to ProKart to see if we can get a deal on track time. Wagner Race Products may even be willing to throw in a couple of bucks to help keep the cost down.
