I'm in need of a AP3-SUB-001. Does anyone have recommendations of where to buy one new or if there are any good deals currently?

Damn. Looks like everywhere is 600-650 with 1 day shipping.

Do I tread lightly when it comes to opensource tuning? I know its a much cheaper option ( $200 cable ) but does that come at a huge risk? I've been reading up on it and am a little weary.

Go see any of the local tuners and you'll be fine. I've been running open source tunes for almost a decade.

Devin at D-Tune aka JM Automotive in Osseo.
Ronnie at RS Motors in Burnsville.
DB at DB Performance in Rogers.
Nuke at NF Performance in Minneapolis.

Any of them will treat you right!

    :edit.
Just make sure that all of your I's are dotted and your T's are crossed with the car before you go to see them! Don't waste their, and your own, time!

We have new accessports in stock at JM Automotive if you want one. But a personal tune to your car is way better for your car then a off the shelf map that Cobb offers. And to with those maps you are limited to the parts you can use where a personal tune is to your car and it's parts.

Just a random question, but could they tune a car for the stock rev hang? and if so how much does it run to tune a car?
