Best place to shop for a TV? ...no, not a transvstite...a television. I may be in the market for a TV somewhere around 40-42". I was wondering if someone could tell me where there is a shop that actually calibrates their display models properly to get a better idea of their quality. Gotta say I'm not too impressed with most of the LCD sets I've seen displayed (detail is fine, colors seem off), or is that in the calibration? Also, will a set that size fit in an 02' WRX sedan:laugh:
Newegg.com baby. Give it a looksee. Or TigerDirect. Both spots have deals all the time on 40/42" TVs. And NewEgg usually has free or 100 dollar in house delivery.
Yeah, haven't ruled out ordering, but like I said, I'm not real impressed with the color rendition I see on sets in the stores, so I'm looking for a place that calibrates their display models properly so I can decide if I want it...or to tough it out with my 1997 27"
I would use caution ordering from TigerDirect between MrMcMonkey and Me EVERY order we received the wrong stuff. I think we ordered from them 2 or 3 times. The invoice in the box would list the correct item but the wrong thing would be in there. They wanted us to pay a restocking fee which was stupid high to send back the wrong stuff and get what we ordered, which we never did and just kept the wrong stuff. And I buy everything from Newegg now I dont even compare prices with other stores.
no store calibrates them, it is not cost effective to do all the display models. they crank the brightness and contrast so it looks really bright. if you want the best colors have it calibrated when you get it home because your viewing are (ambient light) will be different then that in a store.
Sound advice. This is coming from a man who fixes and calibrates TVs. IMO, LCD tvs are the way to go. No worrying about burning or any of that crap. I've got my 6" in my car and I love it.
