I have dug through everything I could find on the subject before starting a new thread and am still not sure... I haven't bought anything but original size tires for my previous cars. Just hoping an experienced bugeye owner can keep me from screwing this up. I'm planning to go with Sparco Assetto Garas 17x7.5 with a +48 offset with Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires. The recommended tire size is 225/45-17. Tire Rack warns that might rub on the wagon and suggests 215/45. The suspension height is stock and there has been a little camber adjustment done in the past judging by how the current rear wheels sit. Has anyone had trouble with 225s on a bugeye wagon? Do the 215s look stretched at all on a 7.5" wide rim? Also are there pros or cons to 225 or 215/50's? That would increase the overall diameter of the tire just a little and there appears to be space. Any advice is much appreciated, can't wait to order these. Thanks!
02 Wagon, 225/45R17 tire size...high offset rims and no rub. In the winter I run 205/55R16 snow tires on a high offset rim and those do not rub either. It's all about the offset
I had 235s on 18x7.5 " ET +48 with very slight rubbing. She was also sitting on Tein H-Techs. I did a non-aggressive roll of the rear fenders. Worked out quite nicely.
After getting a tire rack gift certificate I just placed the order. White 17" Sparco Assetto Garas with Continental Extreme Contact DWS. Thanks for the advice.
