It so happened that this unlucky suby owner woke up in the morning and his/her looked like this... SAD but i think it is sometimes worth having an ALARM on your car especially if you park outside. Seems like even apartment parking lots are not safe
Wow, where was this? ...and the took crap like the fenders? damn honda owners...trying to pimp out their cars with STI parts
Wow sucks that happened, but also the owner is lucky they didn't strip it down to the bones at least his wheels are still on. There's too many nice parts on that STi
That sucks, I'm guessing they wanted the hawk eye front end because they took basically everything needed to convert it.
that is just crazy, it almost seems to me like it would have been easier to just steal the entire car
need more info before i worry about my car on the streets, where is the harness for the headlight? couldn't you see that in the pic... and lol, shift knob is gone, ricers
NOT a scam....This was in Germantown, MD here is the link http://www.iwsti.com/forums/gd-general/177595-car-broken-into-stripped.html
Maybe the owner was In the middle of doing something? I mean everything you would want to take is still there..
Is the part that is white where the fender used to be always that color? Or would it normally be the same color as the body?
There is a time petty thieves broke into my Altima stole my panasonic face plate, all my nice HIP HOP Cds...then finally ate my candy bar and smeared it on my seats... But its amazing how thieves are never caught in the ACT
Thats the Air Filter Silencer....the infamous silencer delete done to hear a psshhhhh sound without a BOV:biggrin:
Just seemed like it could have been a car that had been in an accident and was waiting for hood/fenders/bumper. I guess not, and that wouldn't explain the interior.
That blows. I too am shocked that alot of the more valuable parts are still there. Seriously bumper covers and fenders dont need to be replaced that often unless you visit Orr a couple times. The wheels and tires are worth a considerable amount of money, same with anything relating to the engine and transmission, be it a TMIC, intake manifold, or water ever and those parts arnt that hard to take. If you have the stuff to remove the fenders you can pull the TMIC.
^^^ NO i thought so too but the pedals are there when u try to look under the pic or tilt your head a bit
Meh. In my opinion they were idiots, not professionals. If they had half a brain, there were much more valuable parts on the car to take that were as much work. Must have been chop shop people that needed the parts.
Definitely a strange set of parts. It was also a lot of large items, things not transported easy without pretty much a cargo van or large pickup. It definitely seems like there was specific intention for the parts, a conversion or some such. He'll probably see his parts rolling around on someone else's car. Strange.
Sucks for that guy but I'm with the rest of the group. If this was a real theif, the first thing you would think they'd go for was the BBS's. There are way too many expensive parts left on that car for this to be real.
My belief is: If this was a scam. Saying the owner secretly removed the parts to collect insurance money or something, I highly doubt they would make an internet post about it. One would assume the owner would want to keep everything under the radar rather than creating large internet debates across many forums. That being said, I had my entire car stolen once so I feel for the owner. Theft sucks. People suck. Nuff said
The guy with a 350z did the same thing, and it was a scam. he claimed that his car was stripped in his driveway while he was inside. he posted about it. People that try to scam other people out of things are generally not the brightest bulbs.
Well for the amount of time it would take to remove all those parts, you might as well have taken the whole car. If someone did steal all those parts, they are basically going to be in the same amount of trouble as if they would have stolen the whole damn car. And seriously, someone that knows what they are doing can get that whole car out of there is less than 5 minutes. Even if you have 5-6 that know subaru's inside and out, there is no way you would be able to strip all that stuff off of it in under say 30 minutes. All while trying to keep quiet so nobody notices you.... Scam Russ
the only thing that doesn't make it look like a scam is the fact they cut the gauge cluster and steering wheel wiring. still odd to leave stuff like the tmic
like i said scam... They post this to try and validate their claim that it was indeed a theft...basically telling Subaru people to "be on the lookout" for his parts. This **** has scam written all over it.
agreed. "Dude, i dont think that the insurance guy will buy the story" "dont worry man, I'll post up a story on the forums, it'll make it look legit"
stereo, tmic, and rims are all there. Those are top dollar items that if someone's gonna rip off a car, they're takin that crap with them. I'm jumping on the scam train also.
IMO if he wanted to have people look out for his parts, he would have taken out the most valuable parts from the engine....Besides who would take out their gauge cluster of all parts and a steering wheel?. It seems like they wanted specific parts and basically have collected parts from other cars to make their own assembled stolen pats.
LOL...we actually talked about that last summer after the roll.... but honestly, I could have that turbo, tmic, manifold, and transmission out before I could take out all the crap they took. it's really too bad, either this person is really stupid and/or there are some very dumb theives... either way it sucks
I agree with this guy^ The stuff stripped off the car (fenders/hood) are big items. If you were going to take the time to steal the fenders. Why the hell wouldn't you steal the tmic and rims.. You're already in there! It looks like a scam.
kind of reminds me when my car was broken into. They seemed fairly professional by popping the hood, cutting the alarm wire and also checking the trunk for subs. But then they left my valentine 1 on the windshield in plain sight. The only thing they took was my 5 year old CD player that might have been worth $100 on the street.
well for the record the v1 dosent look to snazy looks pretty boring and lame if you dont know what it is.
