Well my roommate finally got all his parts for his road bike build. And I got to spend my afternoon putting this beauty together! So much fun, such a sexy bike. I opened this thread expecting to see something about cleaning bicycles with the silicone stuff. http://www.pedros.com/bikelust.htm Yay for new bike though... wheelset? ~Dan
Current wheelset was a freebie... Ultegra hubs with mavic MA3 rims. Trying to talk him into either Chris King hubs or White Industries or Possibly Paul hubs if they make a Shimn 10s hub. But need to find a set for him to test before I make he drop almost $700 just in hubs alone!!
And the rest of our collection! View attachment 24567 Front to Back: Serotta Ottrott, Surly Pugsley, Masi Speciale Commuter, '85 Bianchi, Surly 1x1, Nishiki Crest, and the frame is a Soma Rush.
Neat. That's quite a selection. I'm not a bike guy myself, so basically everything you said was foreign to me. A good, light road bike is one thing I'd like to eventually have. I've got a decent Jeep mountain bike that's done well for me for years, but it'd be nice to just get a really good comfort bike for street use. I'm on pavement too much to have knobby tires and a 40 lb. bike. I can't say I'd go as far as you though. I'm too cheap for that, but a good street bike would be nice.
Fuji I will race you, in Redwing on the downhill course. I sold my dirt jumping bike and picked up a new specialized P1 AM for something to pedal around on since my 8in suspension bike doesn't pedal up hill. Now if it will stop snowing and start being summer I can ride.
Serotta's are sweet road bikes. Colnago is my dream bike which gonna build later in life. Good precursor for group mtn bike at Mammoth(near Chaska/Jonathon). Will post invite when trail dries out ~ next week.
love the 1x1, pugsley, and masi. how is he liking the masi? i was looking into one of those among several other bikes last year. on a side note, are there any other fixed gear nuts on this site?
The roommate that has the Masi loves it. The roommate that has the Soma that has ridden brake less for years is finally having knee problems so is going to put a cheater brake on it now. Of that stack of bikes the 1x1 and the Bianchi are mine. The Serrota, Pugs, Soma, Nishiki are one roommates. and the other roommate has the Masi, and his NEW bike should be coming home in a couple days hopefully. Damn I miss that Madone SSL Tri Bike i built. That thing was so nice, I spent way to much on it though.
I used to sell Serotta's...they were killer bikes but way out of my price range. I had a SCOTT CR1 that I sold. That was by far the most comfortable bike I ever rode. Here to Duluth (183 miles) was a fairly comfortable trip. Now I'm sportin' a 40 year old french made Motobecane single and Niner Sir 9 single (awesome geometry!!!). How do you like the 1x1 and Pugs? I have been thinking about both of those...
Pugs ruled the winter downhill race at Buck Hill 2 winters ago. He bent his handle bars at the finish line.:eek4:
I've really like my 1x1 but have been thinking of selling it lately. I'm just ready for something new and have not been riding it much. The bike handles great and is a comfortable ride. But I sank a good deal of money into it so its a little more built than most people spend on a Surly. The Pugs is my roommates, but its a ton of fun when its snowing out! you can just ride over anything if you got good handling skills. It'll be fun to see how it handles the sand this summer, I might have to bring it to the sand dunes outside fargo for an afternoon.
looking for a road bike right now and budget is $300 or less, should i get a target schwinn or get a used "better" one? know any places that sells used bikes?
I have a Serotta Colorado Legend CRL steel frame custom built for me a number of years ago. It's an awesome bike. Super smooth. I also have a '71 Schwinn Racer, Giant XTC AC1 all built up for freeride and a pieced together single speed XC hard tail.
