Just got a used AP from a guy in Colorado. Followed directions and attempted to install/initialize it. Find this message after trying to load stage 1 91Oct map... Not correct ECU Halting Operation. try to "revert to stock" get the same thing. When i start it up I get the 1 thru 8 menu. I shouldn't. Called Cobb, i explain all this, they say it was likely not unmarried. The guy I bought it from traded in his car. So i'm SOL!?
Just what i want to do, spend $880 for a used AP! ($490 +$390reprogramming fee). Obviously, my best option is to send it back to the guy and get my $490 back.
yeah if the guy will give you the $$ that sounds great. if you send it back and the guy does not send you the $$ you now spent 490 on nothing, and you have nothing to reflash... you have the potential here to get double screwed.... i'd check the serial# unmarried units imo have a high chance of being stolen. how did you make payment?
I doubt the unit is stolen. If it is he's a pretty good con. I'll have to look and find a link to his website for everyone. I paid PayPal. Hopefully I'll at least be covered there. I was thinking he could refund me the $390 that Cobb will charge me to get it reset. He should be the one that takes the hit for this "deal".
Ya, I picked up a used and the same thing happened to me. Paypal pretty much said take a leap because it wasn't purchased on e-bay. I just called the guy I bought it from and told him that it was f'd up and I wanted my money back, and he was more that happy to send me the $400 to get it reflashed. Russ
