Subie's are the best the big 3 need some turbos, awd, and to start praying (Not some Bail outs) if they want a chance to match sales with a Subaru.

Turbos are enthusiast items. They need to make something AWD and wagon like to match the Outback.

Subaru has been making great cars with lots of features. AWD, standard power stuff, and has been getting improving their safety. They also put decent gas mileage! Getting an average 20-24mpg city/hiway driving is nice given the good power and AWD performance for the average driver. It will have things that some owners wished was better... but every car has that. Take what is good for you and go with that.

Ford is on the best track of the three of them with their EcoBoost program in developement. Smaller displaecment engines with turbochargers and direct injection to keep the american power mongers happy while getting good mileage.

I say, welcome to the party. You're about 15 years late.

GM needs to expand their use of the Turbo ECOTEC. The Cobalt SS get 30 hwy and 22 city.

Subaru's get poopy gas mileage. But gas mileage wasn't even on my list of concerns when I was looking for a car. All the other stuff is just too good.

they may not get the best milage but they are also driving all 4 wheels all the time which makes for that "POOPY" mileage

interesting that the article has no response from Subaru. but THEY DON'T NEED TO!!!
they've been making a great car for years and the general population are finally coming around to them.

i disagree with the poor mileage statement, i drive an RS and i consistently get over 30 mpg despite my terrible speeding habit.
in fact 3 day's ago we tested my car to see what type of mileage i got from minnetonka to st paul, going from BP to BP and judging fuel consumption by the first click of the pump. granted we did drive conservativly (and painfully slow, at the posted limit of only 55 mph) and I was fallowing Wakesurfers Grand Cherokee. from this we found i got 55 mpg! cuz i only used .288 gallons during the 16 mile trip.
now i know this is not a whole tanks average, but its still surprising none the less.
