WOW what a great day. We had a good time at BIR on Monday meeting Johnny Rutherford. I did my check out ride with Mark Uteck. What a great driver, it was great to see what my car could really do.

I have been racing for a few years now and couldn't believe how much I need to learn.

We fried my stock rotors in 15 laps, but kicked the crap out of some VERY expensive cars in the process. Mark thanks for introducing me to Bill, rotors are installed and should be broken in by our next track day.

Oh yeah forgot to mention my son Derek got hired as a driving instructor, not bad for a 17 year old, did that sound like a proud dad, sorry can't help it. Derek was jumping in and out of some very nice cars all day, the Noble was his favorite. Although he still loves the Subie, even with the push.

I would encourage everyone to go to the track, maybe we should try and organize a track day for the club.

Mike what event was this? There is alot of highly experienced drivers around here, including yourself and Mark U, as a matter of fact I got a ride with him last weekend at BIR. What were you driving and how were you driving BIR, if you dont mind. Did you get any pictures? And congrats to Derek!

I have met a few of the Auto X folks, but didn't know many of the track drivers, this is good to know.

We arrived late Sunday afternoon with our trailer, WRX inside. I spoke with Scandia WRX briefly before heading to the hotel. Our event was on Monday. We were tied up most of the weekend getting ready for our next Kart race.

Sorry no Pics, I was busy with our Simulators most of the day, just enough time to get a couple of runs in. What type of lap times do prople run with the WRX? Mine was not great considering I had a warped left Rotor which made turn 3 rather interesting.

    Sounds like a good time.

Mike - what tires were you running on the wagon for the event?

I met the track designer, he showed me the plans. We will be building the track into our Simulator over the next year.

I've heard some good things about these tires, how did they hold up on a road course?

What are good times for a wrx? i would think a sti on street tires would be 2:03 or 04. Lots of variables with the expensive cars. often they don't push real hard because they don't want to ball them up. back in 96 i was in an event at bir and one of the 355 ferrari's was totaled at turn 9. a sad sight also, did you have a radar gun/screen readout at the end of the straight so you could see an accurate speed going thru one? it is neat to see what you can carry thru one.

Mike, It was good to see you on Sunday. The wagon is looking good! Next time we'll have to see about getting you up with the simulator over the weekend, that would've been even more fun in an already great weekend. I have to agree that riding with Mark is a real hoot. I wish I had had thought to ask for some full lap rides in the Mustang. There's something about climbing into a caged car and strapping in with a highly skilled driver behind the wheel that gets your heart going. I can't imagine how much fun those guys have on the rally roads. Congrats on Derek getting hired as an instructor!

Thanks to all for the compliments. After 20 years of spending all my money on going fast in cars, I would hope I have learned a few things about driving.

Just like on Mike's car, I wiped out the front rotors on the Mustang over sat-mon and didn't drive it at all on tues.

I was up there for four days between three different events. The weekend was the Snow States event that I have posted on this forum. Monday was a BIR Performance Driving School (formerly Donnybrooke) event and Tuesday was a corporate event.

    If any of you are interested, the next BIRPDS event is Sept. 24. You can see more at;

Thanks, we always have a SIM in the trailer and love the track. We are looking forward to attending a Rally event next, I think Derek is nervous about getting into a rally car but I know he would do fine.

    See You Soon
