I need to level out some spots in the lawn as well as get some good earth to plant my commercial hemp plants in. Anyone around here work for a landscaping company? Me thinks I need a couple yards o' dirt. Thanks in advance, Sean
Dirt is, well, dirt cheap. It's the delivery charges that add up, and unless you or a buddy have a truck/trailer it's going to cost you even if somebody could get you the dirt for free. Otherwise, it's like $7 a yard, so if you have a truck, it's easy.
Yep, black dirt is cheap, delivery is the killer I had 5 yards of black dirt deliverd and I think it cost me 80 dollars delivery, the dirt itself was around 40 bucks.
Jason - who did you use? I'm sure it's a commodity but that pricing is about what I was expecting - more dirt will go into the pump track in the back yard!
Gertens I believe it was. This was 3 years ago though, they may have changed the prices due to fuel costs and price of goods and such.
I think we paid about $110 for 7 yards. I forget where, but I think it was a place off of Cedar in S Mpls. I really should look it up as I need a couple more but I'll get them in my truck, and I'm in no big hurry to move more dirt. I hate landscape work. After I finished building the house I told my wife she could do whatever she wanted with the yard, but that she'd be doing it.
i paid a local company here $300 for two huge dump trucks full of dirt delieverd. But im up here in andover, it might be a little cheaper
if you have a way to haul the dirt, watch the craigslist 'free' area, people are always looking to get rid of dirt and landscaping rocks. however... most of it is used, and not new! lol
U of M St Paul Campus used to let you come and pick up manure for free. My wife used to do this for her garden. But I guess that isn't quite "dirt." And it requires yer own transportation. Hmm, guess this wasn't really a helpful post.
