Driving to a Car show today I blew my Brand New Azenis RT-615. Had 85 miles on it. Blew out the entire inside sidewall. Were guessing due to a defect so we will see how the warranty goes.

The wheel is undamaged. Bought it through Discount tire online. We will see if they warranty it. In the mean time I already bought a replacement today and had it mounted.

No one else had seen an RT615 destroyed like that either.

Were you doing anything silly when this happened, or was it just out of nowhere while cruising?

No I was just driving down the Interstate. When it blew it didnt even make my car squirrely or anything, I got a big vibaration so I pulled over and Thats what I found. My buddies were right behind me, they said all of a sudden they just saw smoke and I was already pulling over.

Wow! Mine are on the way as well. I was going to get them online, but the guy at Discount Tire in Shakopee told me that he would match the same price - if they took off the warranty and free rotation. I don't want to risk the same thing happening and then I'm screwed... Maybe I'll put the screws to them and make them honor the warranty.

never seen or even heard of something like that happening to an RT-615
if discount is unresponsive, try contacting falken directly. i belive they do offer a built in warranty from defects... and if that's not a defect, then you had a big ass butcher knife zip tied to your strut...

We were about 40 miles from fargo, So me and a Buddie left in his truck and picked up a stocker and a new tire, and threw the stocker on for a few miles to get to the town and had the new tire mounted.

Yeah the butcher knife on the strut is a new mod. LAWLZ:laugh:

Tell them you know the owner of the old Meineke Shop in Shakopee... When I bought my tires through them... they not only matched teh tire rack pricing they also never charged me shipping, or mounting and balancing or disposal or anything... and it took them about 20+mins a rim to mount (2 guys)

problem a lot of time is when you buy them offline they dont give you warranty like in store... it's their way of getting you to shop in-store and also return their for everything else...

ps... unless they can prove something was slicing that tire as you drove there is NO way they wont warranty it... it is an obvious tire defect....

    THIS!!!
I have seen this twice on the new batches of any of the azenis line. They must have some sort of tred skirt defect. I am the adjustment manager in rochester and could definatley help you out. I will also be sending an email around to all DTC stores to see if they have seen similar. This the third RT615 i have seen do the exact same thing.
For those of you who own them or are getting them keep your invoices. there just may be a recal coming soon.

Very true. If it was bought from Discount tire, it will be warrantied. DTC stands behind all of there product. I would go to the closest store and see what they can do for you. BRING YOUR INVOICE!!!!!

unless it was obvious SOMETHING on your car was rubbing it then why wouldn't they warranty it!!!!!

It wont be bad at all. There are recalls on tires all the time. They just send you a letter in the mail, and you go to your local falken dealer and they will replace them for you. All the customer has to do is show up.

You mean Ford purposely telling people to under inflate their tires so their car would ride nicer? Firestone got reamed for Ford's stupidity.

sounds like you are going through extra steps here.

if you bought it from a discount tire I would bring the car, the bad tire and say fix this now.

tell them you will be calling the BBB and also posting their helpfulness on every forum you can sign up too and making sure if they are gonna be ass-hats about that then you will be too....

I have never seen a NEW tire do that unless something was slicing it...

yo know on looking at those pics a little more it almost looks as if you ran over something THEN drove on it till it blew.. WITHOUT knowing it had gone down, (seeing it wad the rear you probably wouldn't have felt it with such low profiles)... it's the one fear i have with mine

    Contact Falken directly.
If they give you ****, post this story all over the net.
Also contact NHTSA, they investigate tire failures and afte rthe rash of them lately they take them quite seriously, esp a failure like that.
