Ok, since I am working on about 2 billion little projects on the new site, I am also going to start looking for a few good peeps to create a build blog.

What I am looking for is a few people who are interested in showcasing their build. I am taking a BUILD. Sorry, we have all see standard turbo swaps and stage 2 cars, I am looking for something that is outside the standard build. I am looking at you Piddster, Dynapar, Fuji, Phobia, etc.

The blog will pretty much be a full featured blog. Full control of everything from the background to the text font. Colors, boarders, pictures, comments, the works.

If you are interested in starting a blog up, post up and let me know.

Yes, I forgot to add your name to the list of people I am looking at.

Once everyone gets back from the ice races, we will put together a better package of what will be available and what will be required from the end user.

I spoke with Dan (Piddster) at the ice races and he said he would be down for it. He just wants to know to handle he older updates. If we want to just link to that or what. I said we could figure that out later.

Like Ryan said, I'm fine with doing one of those blog thingies all you trendy people talk about ;)

I can't imagine it would be that hard to copy and paste the old posts with content into said blog. It should be less that 50 posts. I'll still update the other thread since several friends who are not members keep track of it.

When it is working let me know and I can start playing around with it when I have free time.

Why not just make a project section for everybody?

I would say that 90% of the people would start the blog, make 2-3 entries and then just drop it. Currently I have so much on my plate, I really don't want to start hunting down issues with 600 blogs (if there are issues), then the mods have 1 more place to mod.

We would like to get a couple of the specialized builds up and rolling to see how the response is, and from there determine if it is something we want to open further, or just keep for the specialized builds.

I 100% agree you can't manage to have it open to 600 blogs, but I disagree that it needs to only be major builds. See how it goes with a few, and then please consider having ONE example of a stage 1, stage 2, etc.... That would be of huge benefit to those that have not seen these yet, and may be thinking about it. It would also consolidate what would hopefully be clear, concise examples in one place instead of the mess that a search returns.

The thing is, most of that stuff is in the newb section which it seems most people don't look it. There's a group of us that have spent some time putting stuff in there.

Yep, I've looked through most of it. I'm not freakin about it - just an observation. There's definitely some good stuff in there by Readymix and others. But most bolt-ons are mainly text with dyno charts. I was thinking something more like Shibbs GM BCS post with pictures, step-by-step. Hey, it's just a suggestion. I'd like to do more than suggest, but I'm past stage 1 without a single picture to contribute. I will be doing stage 2 soon, and will try to document with pictures, just in case...

We're always down for people to do step-by-steps. I just feel a blog isn't the correct place for it. I think a thread in that section would be the correct place.

If you do decide you want a general stage 2 plus a little more mine could be used. Someday after I get it tuned again we can add the VF22 to the dyno chart results.

Yeah I would start a thread and add yours pics and steps there. I am thinking Russ is looking for something a bit more detailed than what most people would end up doing.

I'd like to see Chux do a "how to build an offroad subaru with a rolling body, $5, a toothpick, half a dorito, and a bubblegum wrapper" blog.

i think i would be willing to share what iv done with my suby in a blog (97 legacy). I did a DIY $100 paint job and i am currently finishing up my 3.3 H6 swap. i might not have a crazy amount of constant updates but, i do still have plans for an engine overhaul this summer and who knows what else after that... idk, i think my car is kinda unique and interesting. lmk!

I could put something together. I have been updating this thread over on RS25. http://www.rs25.com/forums/f145/t69756-dynacar.html Should be about what you are looking for. I am also like 70% complete on a write up for doing a 4eat -> 5speed swap in a GC, which I would like to post at some point.

The blogs are mainly to be a place where out of the ordinary, and DIY R&D type stuff is happening. People doing things outside the norm. A Stage 2 car isn't outside the norm at all, there are a million examples of how to do it around the internet and they aren't interesting to read about. Uppipe (optional for 06+), Downpipe/turboback and tuning. Somtimes they throw in injectors or a boost solenoid. But for the most part, they are pretty cut and dried, and they give the same or similar results. And the "how to" required for it isn't really all that necessary either, the parts are a 1 for 1 swap.

The blogs are more for projects that break ground or are off the beaten path. Dynapar has a car that is a turbo'd N/A project that is on-going, this has lots to discuss and lots of good interesting info to read. Piddster is a full ground up older generation Legacy build with a variable vane turbo on an EJ22T franken block, the VVT and EJ22T alone are subjects of interest. Fobia is building a privateer drag race car with a tube chassis and a Ford rear end, nobody on this site has anything like that going on. Carl has a privateer'd rally car that is in various stages of repair and is active in sanctioned racing events, he can discuss his car, the mods, the repairs, the races he competes in and his rankings and results of those races. These sorts of articles are few and far between on this site. The information on how to setup and the results of a Stage 2 setup are all over this site, Nasioc, WRXFanatics, and numerous other local Subaru boards.

That is what they should be used for. Stand out projects with interesting and out of the norm stuff going on.

Like I said let me know if you want me to do something (and how/where to do it). I would be more than happy to.

Small correction Jason, instead of doing my DIY turbo kit version 3 I opted to swap in a EJ205 temporarily until I can get the EJ22T finished. So now I am on a turbo platform, although the on-going part is ever so accurate ( NA -> Turbo -> NA -> Turbo -> NA -> Swap, 4EAT -> 5 Speed -> 6 Speed). It will never end...

LOL, tell me about it. However, you will get to a point where you think really hard about whether or not a $10k motor is worth another 200hp.

Ok, the 2 blogs we have are up and running and everyone should be able to see them. Any comments??

Anyone else interested in starting one??

Martin & Matt, shoot me a pm if you want to start working on a blog and I can get the changes made.

My only comment on the Blogs thus far is that Piddster's entries do not have a descriptive title, like Carl's do, which makes them unattractive, IMO. With Carl's titles, you can easily find something that you are interested in and choose to read in further detail. Where as with Piddster's, I find myself judging the entries based on the pics that show. So what I'm saying is, perhaps there should be a requirement for using a descriptive title for the entry, no offense to Piddster.

On another note, I agree with readymix when he stated, "The blogs are more for projects that break ground or are off the beaten path." I would be interested in starting one that is along those lines.

I can work on the titles so they have some sort of indication as to what each post is about. I used the dates since most of the posts are from the past.

Thanks for the feedback Dan. I just tossed everything up there without much direction. The titles will be worked on next week.

can we make it so blog posts appear in the new posts (like the front page announcements do)? it seems like the blogs are a bit forgotten unless you remember to go in and look for updates

Yep they can be added. I am actually waiting on the next VB update so I can roll out a bunch of changes all at the same time. I don't want to keep shutting the board down for little changes when I know that I will have a big change coming fairly soon.
