I don't see what all the hub bub is about. Mills and lathes are fun, and can do a lot of stuff. People have been putting larger compressor wheels in smaller turbos for a long time. The only advantage to a billet compressor wheel is time to market. They are not lighter, nor do they spool faster. Companies can machine compressor wheels and bring them to market much faster than creating the tooling to cast them.
Yes, there is that. Bolt-on guys will have a decent turbine housing option now. Not quite the amount of options that rotated T3 or T4 turbos have, but definitely better than what is currently available. I can understand why it has taken so long to come to market. The amount of work that goes into designing a turbine housing is no small feat.
Supra Sport does this right here in MN along with a **** load of shops around the country, I guess I don't see why this is so bad-ass.
