So I cut open my blown agx strut tonight. I was actually able to find some visible damage in there that happened from the damned pothole. It just looks like it bottomed out really hard and broke a piece of metal on the bottom of the strut tube. I'm not sure what that actually did to break the damping of the strut, no oil had leaked out of the strut body itself. But, before I drained the oil, the strut would kinda work if you pushed it all they way in, but if you just pushed it in an inch or two, it would bounce back with no damping. Also, setting #1 on the strut still felt ok, but 2, 3, and 4 were all bad. Oh well, the strut body is ready for a koni insert should I break another AGX. Joel
Yeah, Menards had Mechanix gloves on sale last november for $5 a pair so I bought a bunch, and then I was there last night and they had some more Mechanix gloves for $8, so I picked up two more pair. I should be set on gloves for a while...
Nice job... But say... Don't AGXes have lifetime warranty? Why did you cut them apart instead of just getting them replaced?
Yeah, as far as the warranty, I did check the kyb website about that. I bought my two front agx struts used from someone who I think also may have bought them used. So, I didn't have any receipt and I don't know where they were purchased to try to get the warranty honored. Also, damage from bottoming the strut out usually voids the warranty. But, the person I bought the front struts from did give me a replacement for free. Justin, no the menards I went to yesterday didn't have any of the lighted gloves in stock. The kind I got are basically the same with no light. Joel
