Hey guys, This AM I was doing a scouting promo for the pinewood derby and my car was damaged by a blown over sign. Mainly the front right 1/4 headlight and bumper.

The questions is do I trust the stealer or is there a better body shop around. I am going to request panel and bumper cover replacement as the car only has about 600 miles on it.

The good news is that my car was on the Fox 9 Morning show, the bad is obvious.

    DOH!

Post a pic before you get it fixed. Those pictures are fun in the painful "Dam thats got to hurt" sort of way.

I have the pic on my camera, I will have to download it off there tonight. They don't allow cameras here at work.

I will have to get a quote from Brad. Is he a body guy or manager?

i get all my stuff done at TJ auto services. its a one man bussiness, and i know the guy well. he does amazing work, but its kinda pricey (no spray booth yet, so painting is the expensive part). its where i got my fender done. i can get his number for ya if you want.

I've taked my car here twice, once after it was vandalized and then after a hit and run in a parking garage.

Each time the car came back nicer than when it went in.

The problem then is the very large scratch and distortion in the fender. Unfortunately it need repair or replacement.

Does anyone know if a painted fender can be ordered from Subaru? I am still waiting for insurance info. Might be about time to start ranting.

i believe (unsure) that body parts ordered from subaru are un painted. it would make sense for them cuase then they wouldnt need to worry bout what color you need. hey you can save 20% on it though! otherwise check out certi-fit. they might have one.

After visiting a few shops in the area, I decided on Hamline Auto Body to repair my car. Other than a 3 mile test drive (I assume it was a test drive) someone took, the repair of the fender looks very nice.

There are a few details I will ask them to take care of. Before I get into it I will give them a chance to correct it but unfortunately it means at least one trip back.

The dark spots in the picture are flies that can't resist my car.

Yesterday afternoon I stopped back and dropped the car off. I was met by Scott (Repair Processor) and Brad (Mgr) and both of them were were very open to making sure that I was satisfied in the end. I was also assured that my car was handled professionally while in their care.

We discussed the details of what I was happy and unhappy with. They assured me that before I return the car would be done right. I got the impression that the quality of their work does matter and that their reputation is also important.

The actual paint work looked very good, but there were a few details I wanted corrected. The touch-ups should be taken care of by Wednesday and they were willing to provide a loaner car while my car was in their shop.

From the care, great customer service I have received and over all quality of the repair, I would definitely recommend this shop to anyone who wants their car repaired correctly. They were very knowledgeable and took the time to listen to concerns and questions.

I will post a final update later in the week when I get my car back, but I have no doubt that the minor issues I had will be corrected.

Last update. I picked my car up and the requested adjustments were made. Brad made a special trip out to the parking lot as I drove out to be sure that I was satisfied with the repair. I did not have a chance to clean the car up before dropping it off on Monday and the body shop took the time to clean my car for me. All in all it was a good experience and I would recommend Hamline Auto body for their quality service.
