    I need to vent!

Has anyone else noticed more bad drivers on the road lately, or is it just me!?

Maybe I'm just more aware these days, but I see a lot of the cell phone talking, lane merging with no signal or looking, speeding too close to others type of people behind the wheel.

Here's my story... and just one example of the not-so good drivers out there.

Driving south on France Avenue I found myself inches away from a major accident.

While driving in the right lane towards the 494W entrance I noticed line of cars waiting to merge onto France southbound from 78th street. The next car to merge onto France was a big SUV. This driver, even though she looked towards my car that was less than 10 feet away from her, proceeded to quickly 'go for it' and take over my lane!?! WTF! :eek:hnoes:
I wasn't speeding so it's not like I was all of a sudden right there!

With a very quick jerk towards the left with my steering wheel I was able to avoid her..barely...maybe a few inches of clearance between her front bumper and my passenger side. However, while doing so I noticed one thing...OMG my car is solid! I have never aggressively made sharp turns with my car and I have to say I was totally amazed at the responsiveness of my car and how it did exactly what I asked it to do!! I swear if I was in just a typical car the delay in the car's response would've been a disaster!

Now I know my car isn't stock and the suspension and steering mods are a big upgrade, but it's still nice to know that my investment of mods isn't only for fun....it has also increased the safety factor!

thanks for listening...I had to vent....

Maybe we should have a spotted thread for bad drivers and close encounters!

Majority of the bad drivers drive SUVs...They do think they own the road...I do feel that when people purchase an SUV that they need to take a crash course on driving it...Just like the Big Rigs...DMV should have a different type of test for these drivers. Also some drivers, do not have enough experience dirving vehicles in general and they start off with an SUV!?!..."Can't teach babies to run, before they can walk".

    I agree
sometimes when i'm on the highway, the suv driver would take their time, so I try to pass them, then these guys floor it and is about to roll over, lol

well, not all SUV drivers are bad drivers. i do own a Chev Tahoe and the STi. so umm not all are bad drivers.hehehe but about the bad drivers on the road i give an AMEN to that. $#!t. This one old handycapp a$$ lady almost ran me over in her f-ing hm-ing dodge ram pickup. i honked at her and she still had the guts to come and b!tc# at me. And of course i had to swear back at her i was just gonna let her curse me out. i gotta stand for my peeps.hehehe and about the suv thing. I was on Uni with my Tahoe and this one chick was in her small vehicle on the turning lane to the left and i was in my lane going straight. we was at the stop light and it turn green, we were also right next to each other. i mean right NEXT to her. she swerve right at me and i swerved right over to half of the other lane almost hitting it. gave her the finger and laughed it off. heheeh

The problem I have when driving my full size truck, is all the little cars that think they can just cut me off. I trust my truck, I can and will go just as fast as the little cars .

Scauba ~ glad you made it out of that one ok.

I had a very near miss last Friday. Almost got T-Boned by a woman who ran a red light. :eek4:

Little b**ch was oblivious to the light, ran it going full speed (which on this road is 50 mph) YIKES. Then she realized that she missed me, stopped in the middle of the intersection and then proceeded to try and back up. WTF! Missed me on the right and now you're going to hit me on the left. CRAZY!

So i agree, lots more nuts out there. Keep your eyes open and mind on the road.

Yeah, I personally have witnessed many bad drivers and they drive every make and model, not just SUVs or caravans. I can only state what I see, but most of the time when I have noticed bad driving the person behind the wheel is talking on their cell phone. :pittyfool:

    ^ loud!

although seemingly not loud enough. i have the 300/350 kit which has fewer DB but an over all lower frequency. (bigger waves travel through more crap imo). anyway i was heading west on 694 in the elft lane gettin ready to the take th 494 s exit. lady right next to me starts sliding over. i give her alittle room but she keeps comin. soo now i am on the shoulder between her in her avalacnhe nad the median. i just mash teh horns. (figuring super tones FTW). well she was oblivous to me and my loud horns. i slowed down and got behind her, where i continued to blare my horns at her for another 5 miles (she took the same exit as me, sucks to be her). then when i got a chance i blew past her, farther away from her i am, the safer i am.

i gotta re-wire my horns or get some louder ones, maybe some that use compressed air.

I was almost mashed into about 3 times yesterday. Friggin idiots!!! It's really "drives me nuts". I come close about 6 times a day driving pizza's around. I tell ya', us pizza delivery drivers get no respect!!! If only there was a number on how many people aren't hurt or dead everyday, because I pay attention when I'm driving.

One reason why I hate driving in the Twin Cities. I've been all over the country driving and the Twin Cities is where I find the worst drivers. It's mostly just stupid people not looking and stuff like that. Or... (this is a big one) THEY CAN'T MERGE!!!!

Agreed... that is all I ever hear my father-in-law say. He's from Chicago originally.

They are just as bad in St. Cloud. At least twice a week seems like I am nailing the brakes because someone decides they want to occupy the little piece of road I am on.

I've found that it doesn't matter what you're driving, there is always an inattentive moron out there. I've driven our ladder truck (50 foot truck, big lights and sirens, it's kinda distinctive) code 3 and still had morons who didn't move over until we were right on top of them and gave them a good dose of the air horn. I don't trust anyone else on the road.

silly MN drivers. actually, silly drivers period.

btw, kinda ot, but I heard on the news the other night something about how the left lane is not (legally) a designated passing lane in MN, its just "suggested" to be used as one. So its actually legal to jock the left lane on the hw in MN. Legal or not, people will always do it, but.. What the hell kind of backasswards isht is that?

bad drivers>good drivers, suvs>small cars does this make sense? most drivers suck and most drive suvs. How can we blame the vehicle? heck most cars pre 1985 were bigger and heavier than most of todays suvs and the brakes and handling sucked as well. Besides we all know its the women drivers screwing everything up.:) j/k

Funny...I've been behind a construction Van with Ladders mounted on the side and it flew off cuz it wasn't tight enough...Luckily for me I have about 1/4 mi. buffer and have enough time to react. unfortunately the car ahead didn't have much luck...He ran over the ladder and I'm sure he bent or broke something under his car.

MN does not have a passing lane law which sucks. In kentucky and a lot of other states down south its illegal to drive in the left lane unless you're passing someone. I love that law.

I have been merged out of lanes and off of roads 4 times in my BRIGHT YELLOW HUGE WING subaru. I just can't understand how they don't see me.
